    we already have a clear timeline: Toyota has said (source: FT: https://www.ft.com/content/6224f235-568c-4e2f-8247-e7dacf0ef20c) that its SSBs will be produced “by 2027 or 2028”.

    But - BUT! - that doesn’t mean the SSBs will be affordable enough or produced at a sufficiently large scale to go into its affordable cars in 2027/28. that level of affordability could take several more years beyond 2027.

    At this point solid state is starting to look like snake oil and black hole for investor money. A new battery design and chemistry will most likely be the next big thing when it comes to EVs.

    My best estimate is probably 5-10 years before we see any in a consumer product.
