I’m just starting to think that the 49ers are just a better all around team this season on paper. No shame in it. Just gonna need to get lucky in a match-up with them in the playoffs. Anything can happen. Giants beat an almost perfect season Patriots team. Hopefully the team learned they need to play mistake free in a rematch.
Offense: Ran two quick slants to AJ in the first quarter and then abandoned it for the rest of the game. If Brian Johnson STILL doesn’t understand the importance of having a short passing game when facing a stout defense after 13 weeks then he won’t succeed as a coach in the NFL. Maybe Nick and Brian should spend more time studying how opposing offenses are neutralizing our pass rush (hint: it’s not by deep shots down the field). It’s week 13 and our offense looks exactly the same as it did week 1.
Defense: When the back 7 is comprised of 30+ y/o senior citizens and undrafted guys off the street, this is what you get. Maybe now this FO understands why you need to invest early round draft capital across all position groups, not JUST the dline.
That was unpleasant. On to Dallas.
The Eagles have been playing like shit for large chunks of games all season and have been relying on pulling a win out of their ass at the last minute.
They needed this ass-beating to finally hopefully be forced to confront their sloppiness of play and coaching. The talent is there to dominate, except for the secondary, but they can’t get their shit together to play a complete game.
And keeping starters on the field for the last few drives was irresponsible as fuck. Hurts shouldn’t be taking any unneeded hits and he hung Swift out to get murdered. There was zero reason to not put Mariota in and run it up the gut to run out the clock.
We need a lb bad
I feel like 49ers are just a terrible matchup for us. We have bad linebackers and can’t really tackle, Shanahan’s offense and weapons just destroy us
Pretty much need our offense to click on all cylinders to compete, and the only time it’s happened is vs Washington. We piled on a lot of points vs Buffalo, but we didn’t look great for a long portion of the game, and 49ers defense is way too good to get away with that
Next week is so important man, get things back on track with a win vs a good team and secure the bye
Shaq Leonard would automatically be the best LB on the roster. I want Howie on the phone NOW
our defense finally shows up in the first quarter, but our offense only scores 6 points. if either of those drives are TDs it would have been huge. feels like some monkey’s paw shit

49ers were only called for 5 penalties and the Eagles for 7. So that makes the 49ers the league’s favorite now, right? Is how that works???

Shanahan’s playcalling is thousands of times better than Brian Johnson’s. His refusal to run the ball and setup the playaction pass game makes no sense.
