Top 5:

  1. Derrick Barnes (91.6)
  2. Jared Goff (84.4)
  3. Jahmyr Gibbs (83.3)
  4. Taylor Decker (82)
  5. Kerby Joseph (81.4)

Bottom 5:

  1. Cameron Sutton (33.8)
  2. Dan Skipper (37.8)
  3. Alex Anzalone (43.3)
  4. Josh Reynolds (48)
  5. Colby Sorsdal (48.9)

Observations:

  • Kind of surprised Goff got as high of a grade as he did. They must not have put that pick 6 on him. Nice bounce back game for him though after a 58.6 last week. He has now moved from 5th to 4th highest graded QB of the season
  • Jahmyr Gibbs Breakout!!! This was his highest graded game of the season. He was actually the highest graded running back in all of football for week 8. And for what it is worth…he is graded higher than Bijan this season.
  • Shout out to Craig Reynolds as well who was the 5th highest graded RB in the league this week. Running game was humming. He’s actually the 7th highest graded RB in the league this season.
  • Biggest surprise for me was Alim McNeil only getting a grade of 61.4. I expected much higher, it felt like he was making plays left and right. His run defense hurt him pretty bad because he did get over 80 for his pass rush grade
  • Nice to see Kerby Joseph return to form after a horrible game two weeks ago (27.9) and struggling last week (54.3)
  • Great job by Kayode Awosika filling in this week as well with a grade of 74.3
  • Cam Sutton’s play is starting to get a little concerning. A grade under 51 for 3 of the last 4 weeks isn’t very good and a 33.8 this week is awful. Hopefully he’ll get back on track soon
  • Is it time to start admitting that Jerry Jacobs is just a really good CB? This is 3 straight games now with at least a grade of 74 and he now sits at 78 for the season which is 12th in the league
  • Hopefully Jack Campbell is starting to turn a corner. 65.1 isn’t anything special but at least he has cracked 65 2 of the last 3 weeks which is a big improvement over the beginning of the season
  • Derrick Barnes was a beast this week but it should be noted that he only played 17 snaps. Still that’s 36% of the team defensive snaps so I still count it.
  • Another special shout out to Penei Sewell. A grade of 75.9 this week is really good considering he had to deal with Crosby all night. Sewell is the most consistent player on the team. He has never had a grade below 62 in any game.
  • Taylor Decker seems to have returned to form. 84.6 last week and 82 this week. Looks like he is finally healthy. He’s now the 10th highest graded Tackle in the league
  • Alex Anzalone had his worst game of the season, but it isn’t too concerning. He has been great all 4 weeks leading up to this game
  • Riley Patterson only got a 50.1 this week and is the 20th graded kicker in the league. So there are still question marks when it comes to our Field Goal kicking
  • Graham Glasgow has come back down to earth unfortunately. He has gone from the 3rd highest graded G to 26th. Although moving around probably hurt his grade
  • Nothing amazing from LaPorta this week (68.9). But that is his highest graded game since week 3. So that’s noteworthy. He’s still the 6th highest graded TE in the league.
  • Cominsky continues to struggle. 53 this week. As a matter of fact, outside of Hutch, the Lions didn’t have any good graded among their EDGE rushers this week. I really hope they make a move to get someone on the other side of Hutch because Cominsky, Paschal, Okwara and Harris just aren’t cutting it.

Yeah these numbers are trash. How does Goff have a higher rating than Gibbs? The rookie carried the Lions sputtering offense all day. PFF is a joke.

Mac and Anzalone were all over the field. Defense won that game. AG deferred the game ball to cam and Jacobs for their shutdown efforts.

Yea I couldn’t really disagree more, that offense moved the ball at will the entire game. Goff had over 225 passing yards in the first half, then we shifted to a run focused attack in the 2nd half to end the game. Gibbs had a great game but in no way carried our offense when we had a massive 500 yards in total offense.

Horrible red zone play calling cost us at least 14 points but as a whole it was a great performance offensively.

PFF ratings can be kind of funny, they aren’t results focused. So Gibbs isn’t going to get a 90 grade if he got fantastic blocking the majority of the night. They aren’t going to hold drops against Goff either.

I think that pick 6 is St. Browns. It looked like Goff saw Saint coming back so he put the ball out in front of him, but at the exact time Goff threw it, St. Brown started running the other way.

Nothing about Sutton’s game last night would make me call it awful. And Anzalone had a solid game from this fan’s perspective.

Nope from what I remember, Glasgow was pretty good. We ran all over them in the second half and a lot of it was Gibbs running the play design, but the OL doesn’t get a good “grade”? Anyway the film will be all over youtube within a couple days so just watch it there and judge for yourself.

Sutton being low doesn’t make a whole lot of sense if I’m being honest. Maybe because he “got beat” by Adams a good bit but the passes never connected between Davante and Jimmy G.

Sutton was terrible last night and he was bailed out by Jimmy G playing some of the worst quarterbacking I’ve ever seen. I hope he gets better.

The bye week has come at a good time. The Lions can get healthy!
