That’s true, it’s fair to imagine better. But it’s also important to understand that the chances of Hendon or another rookie being better than Goff are slim.

I hope you’re just trolling and don’t actually believe anything you just said.
Because the chances of a 3rd round rookie being an upgrade over Goff are extremely slim. The salary cap savings mean nothing if he ends up being bad like 95% of 3rd round QBs do.
He’s better than solid but not one of the best in the league, top 7-11 range rankings wise.
Yes please, also add a Goffense flair while we’re at it.
I’m a big Goff supporter, always have been. Personally I’ve got him somewhere in the 6-10 range for now at least. The top 5 in my opinion is really reserved for the guys who can do more with less. Every QB needs good protection and weapons if you want them to perform their best but Goff is a bit more reliant on his surrounding cast.
Now I said “for now” because Goff is the kind of QB who ages like a fine wine. He’s very cerebral and if he develops the ability to mind fuck a defense like Brady or Peyton did then he’ll be moving up the ranks.
A great moment and the start of the turnaround. Goff running to hug MCDC 🥹
It’s funny how perception differs from reality sometimes.
Anytime someone like Mahomes or Lamar have a couple receivers drop a few passes all you’ll hear is stuff like:
“Wow Lamar’s WR core is so bad and they’re only reason he isn’t putting up better passing numbers!”
When Goff’s receivers drop twice as many passes you won’t hear a word about it. People will just look at the offensive production and say Goff is mid.
Realistically the NFCN was locked up the moment Kirk tore his Achilles.
It’s all about seeding now, if we can beat the teams we’re supposed to beat then we’ll be competing for that 1 seed.
Yea I couldn’t really disagree more, that offense moved the ball at will the entire game. Goff had over 225 passing yards in the first half, then we shifted to a run focused attack in the 2nd half to end the game. Gibbs had a great game but in no way carried our offense when we had a massive 500 yards in total offense.
Horrible red zone play calling cost us at least 14 points but as a whole it was a great performance offensively.
PFF ratings can be kind of funny, they aren’t results focused. So Gibbs isn’t going to get a 90 grade if he got fantastic blocking the majority of the night. They aren’t going to hold drops against Goff either.
I consider it extremely unlikely that Miami walks into Arrowhead and blows out the Chiefs. Mahomes averages about 1 home loss per year and Miami has lost to every good team they’ve played. The combined record of the teams they’ve beaten is 10-27. The Chiefs are the favorite for good reason.
Play action is what Goff does best, and who sets up the play action better than Derrick Henry? Keep in mind that Henry sees more stacked boxes than anyone, something that wouldn’t happen in Detroit. The added depth would be great too.
Defense shmefense! Let’s get back to discussing why it would be smart to not re-sign Goff when it’s blatantly obvious that we’d be 5-7 without him.
