Factoring in both short and long term capabilites, which club is less equiped for success? They’re both well under expectations at the moment, but who is more likely to be good in a 2-5 year window?
From a fan of neither, I feel like United are rotten to the core with a horrific, toxic overall club mindset that no one can save.
Chelsea on the other hand, have nothing. As bad as they’re doing they’re still a fairly clean slate without the 10 years of trauma like United.
I feel like one good managerial appointment or signing (striker probably) could swing their fortunes drastically.
Maybe I’m wrong though.
Well I don’t think that even Chelsea would go 90 mins without scoring against Paul Dummett at centre back so Man United gets my vote for now
Definitely United. For the most part, Chelsea have played decently and and look to have turned some sort of corner. United are just sad.
Chelsea have things in place with the exception of a world class GK. It will fall into place for them sooner or later. Their problem atm is a problem of plenty.
United are clueless.
People are so reactionary. Some weeks ago when a post like this was made, people were saying United would surely finish above Chelsea. Opinions keep swinging like open couples
Last season y’all were comparing our malaise to Liverpool and look how that turned out
united is still finnishing above chelsea this season
Pochhetino is Pottter with a tan and an accent. They take you a long way in PL but result will be the same, just take longer.
I feel like Chelsea is in a better position at this moment.
Chelsea have a lot of high potential players and actually play somewhat decent up until they actually need to finish a chance or defend a incoming goal. Very often they’d have 70% possesion and 17 shots in the final third but none of those become goals and thats their real detrement. With Nkunku coming back sooner or later they should atleast in theory start finishing their chances, and honestly i think the defenders and Sanchez just need the proper motivation and morale, as they are not really half-bad, just make very dumb mistakes which can be avoided.
I dont see the same at Man Utd. There are injury problems sure, but almost every other club suffers from injuries, they arent the only ones, and yet the other clubs seem to be doing miles better. They have a core that is falling apart with their best players being in massive muds or getting old/injured. I’m not going to get into the question of “should Ten-Hag be sacked” or “The Glazers should sell the club so we can get proper owners” but what I can say from a unbiased outsider that doesnt give a damn really about the PL - you should focus more on the pitch, less on whats happening out of it. It wasnt the Glazers losing 0-3 at home to Newcastle. As bad as the ownership may or may not be, the players and tactics should be equally to blame.
Man Utd by far… Chelsea’s only real problem right now is getting a whole new squad to gel. The Chelsea owner is actually being a good owner when you think about it - invests in the squad, has already begun planning for a stadium redevelopment/new stadium, he’s just made mistakes with recruitment, some of which still have time to prove they aren’t mistakes.
Man Utd is just a toxic place to be. The fans want the owner out, there’s the Greenwood situation, the possible Antony situation, Sancho out the team, the whole Ronaldo drama and, of course, the lack of anything on the pitch.
