Hasty generalizations from a developer unaware that their games are not, in fact, to the high quality he is implying. Acting like it’s the consumer’s fault they put out shit and call it chocolate, when really it’s just the shareholders and people who want more and more money from people. People who just wanted a taste of the Destiny 2 bandwagon.

Ugh, I hate triple A gaming nowadays.

No, it’s not about wanting a bunch of new content every day. It’s about having a good amount of content from the start, people still play D2 ffs because so much was done right with the game.

To be fair, stating an axiom may qualify as a Captain Obvious moment, but hardly as a “hasty generalization”. We are fans - addicted consumers who will always want more and more and more and preferably for less and less and less. In a way, we map closest not to creators or even corporate publishers in this regard, but to shareholders themselves, only differing in the specifics of the gratification pursued. With both crowds sharing the sense of entitlement and blissful unawareness of their ultimate replaceability.

I’m so glad I was born in 1982 and started gaming when the NES came out. This FOMO some of these born in 3d gamers (more like born in broadband gamers) get I do not experience.

All they really want is for your game to be good.

I was on the subs for ToTK and Elden Ring when they released and people were busy posting/shitposting about the games. Very few people were complaining or asking for more. I think their problem is Diablo 4 is shit and they ruined Overwatch.

Does the guy not have fucking any idea what the big Blizz game is?

Of course people want MORE fucking content, when that new content is the only NEW thing in years and only lasts for 10 hours. If you want people to play the fucking game forever and then shit out 2 hours of content every few years, then people will complain.

I mean I don’t play wow, but in GW2 it’s similar. When a new expansion is announced people are hyped and when the content is good they play, update builds, incorporate the stuff into their usual daily content. But the most recent expansion was a downscaling of immense degree, has really piddly content (“on purpose”), lacks all the cool shit of previous expansions and wants to dripfeed those aspects over a whole year. Of course people were mad about that shit and wanted an ACTUAL update with the new stuff they grew to love from previous expansions.

If he’s referring to the incels that put 120 hours into Diablo 4 within the first 7 days of release then he’s right. That subreddit was loaded with people outing themselves as having quite literally no life and a crippling addiction to videogames.

Anyone defending playing games 17 hours a day, regularly, as an adult can save it, you will never convince the functioning adults of the world that playing that much is anything other than an unhealthy addiction.

And the sub was loaded with these people.

I remember a time when a new Blizzard games releasing was like Christmas morning, being so excited to play what ever game it was because at that time Blizzard was synonymous with quality. They released amazing games. They took time to work on their games and gave us the best they could. Today they are still taking their good old time making games, but what they are releasing does not hold up to their previous standard; they could do better. It raises the question of “would I rather have a good game every year? Or would I like a fantastic game every 5-10 years”

Imagine asking people pay you monthly plus to buy expansions separately and feeling annoyed by people expecting something for their money. If I am paying you monthly, then I expect something for my money monthly. Why is that hard to understand?

I think this should be Blizzard wants to charge us for new things every day. Every hour.
