For me this is simultaneously the best hardware refresh and most inconvenient hardcore refresh (I guess the former is normally followed by the latter, it wouldn’t be inconvenient if it wasn’t worth getting). I know this isn’t the Steam Deck 2 but there’s definitely some crestfallen just-now-but-outside-return-window buyers of the deck who are regretting their purchase in the face of valve saying there would be no SD2 for the foreseeable future. No, valve didn’t lie but I think it was natural to assume we wouldn’t be getting a SD1.5 either.
At least the price drops help and are pretty sizable! I just wish there was a trade in program. I have the 512 launch day upgraded to 2tb plus a fan replacement. All that being said I am salivating over the limited edition, so I’ll try and sell my current deck to a family member or something
I don’t own a PC, I’ve always been a console gamer but it’s ridiculous how much I miss my Sony handhelds. Really would love to see a steam deck in person one day, if I can ever afford it. Only other thing holding me back is that I’ve been building my digital library for over a decade. Would it still be worth picking one up (like with steam sales, I probably wouldn’t emulate) if I already have a current gen console?
Does anyone know if bootable retrobat SD cards will still work? I’m wondering if they can use the extra screen real estate and the higher refresh rate.
