Wasn’t the clock stopped? Maybe he wanted the chance to run it in if they got to the goal line

Washington had a look they liked from the defense and used it as an opportunity to trap the personnel on the field. Boot right in that instance is either a free TD or it is a dead play so they gave Howell a simple look to maybe get a TD against a defense they liked. Howell didn’t get the free TD look and made the very terrible decision to try to bring a dead play back to life.

With an endless amount of time to score Howell made an awful decision on 1st & goal and it cost us points. Young QBs, amirite?

Because the defense was on their heels and he thought they could steal some points while the Pats were catching their breath. Rivera has been a terrible game-day coach but this is one instance where I just don’t agree with the criticism. It was a reasonable call and Sam just made a bad throw. Sam called it the worst throw of his career lol.

That coaching decision is so elementary, why aren’t you a head coach in the NFL instead of just some guy asking dumb questions on the internet?

At least we don’t have Arthur Smith as our coach. I’ve never seen someone overcomplicate football as much as him
