He’s whiffed on 3 out of 4 drafts. He’s failed at putting an elite offensive line together.

He took a QB that was clear as day a project at 2 because of combine hype.

Our wide receiver room is extremely weak.

Our most recent draft he uses our top pick on a project at the only position we’re actually deep at.

I could keep going but let’s see the excuses you guys make for him.

His refusal to cut bait on ZW is unforgivable. There should have been a real backup qb behind 40 year old declining franchise qb, not a colossal draft bust “learning” from Rodgers (lol). Then post injury he should’ve gone out and gotten best available.

This is 1000% inaccurate. Wilson was widely regarded by just about everybody as the 2nd best qb prospect in that draft. Whoever was drafting second was going to take Wilson.

I don’t anymore. Any GM worth his weight could have been better than Mac and Idzik. I don’t see what makes JD special.

JD isn’t a bad GM. He has way more hits than misses. However, when he misses he misses bad. For every Sauce, Garrett, JJ, Breece, Huff, and Quincy there’s a Zach and Lazard. He just needs to stop sucking off rogers.

Because outside of 1-2 contracts and the ZW pick, he’s been pretty damn good.

2020: 1 star (Huff), 1 starter (Becton), 2 contributors (Davis, Hall) 2021: 4 starters (AVT, Moore, MC2, Pinnock), 3 contributors (Carter, Sherwood, Echols) 2022: 4 potential superstars, 3 contributors (Ruckert, Clemons, Mitchell), and another starter in Tony Adams 2023: TBD

That is an incredible hit rate. None of these drafts are whiffs. A whiff is what Idzik did to this franchise.

It’s more than just 1-2 contracts, the list of underwhelming signings is actually pretty long. Just off the top of my head you got Ryan Khalil, Breshad Perriman, Pierre Desir, Tevin Coleman, and Corey Davis- and a quick Google search will dig up at least a few more names. All of these are in addition to the Lazard, Cook, Hardman, Turner, and Cobb duds from this year (a couple of those Rodgers riders really aren’t 100% his fault though).

All that said, I actually agree with you overall. His solid draft record and the transactions that did work out have put us in a really good position to win. I truly believe that we’re just a quality quarterback (which we had btw) away from being a great team and that deserves credit.

Looking at it from a rubric perspective sure, some of those are objectively bad deals, but what’s the long term consequences? Guys like Bell, Trumaine Johnson, are absolute cap wreckers.

I remember someone here debating me about how horrific the Jarrard Davis signing was. We almost spent more time talking about it than time Davis was actually here.

Because while we have the worst offense, we have the best defense and best kicker & punter.

I don’t hold him in high regard. But also don’t think he’s done a terrible job. A few months ago people were talking about this team as a possible super bowl contender. I also think it’s a little disingenuous to judge him on the Zach pick. In hind sight it was terrible, but it’s not like that was outlandish. He was highly rated by lots of teams/analysts and any QB needy team would have taken Zach at #2. He also grabbed an offensive and defensive rookie of the year. And he also put together a pretty crap offensive line that only got worse with injuries.

So, mixed bag. Again I don’t think he’s awful, but he’s not some football genius either. I’d rather keep him for the sake of consistency. But I also wouldn’t be too upset if he was canned.
