My dad is an IT guy, and for years now, he’s been telling me that he installed some software to monitor my history, even when I use incognito. I didn’t believe him, because if that was true, I’d be dead by now. But two days ago, he told me he added some software for real this time. I didn’t believe him, until I heard him tell our guests about this software. I checked my laptop for recently opened and installed apps and couldn’t find anything, I don’t see anything suspicious on the task manager. (I do not know much about all of this stuff) What should I do? Is he bluffing?
- hey son, it’s me.
 Yes i can see it
- I think the bigger thing here is that you guys need to have a talk. - Why is he monitoring it? Is it because of porn, crime, or something else? - I’m an IT admin, and also handle network and admin duties at the house as well. If I wanted to track our kids stuff, I could. I’m pretty sure they know this. That said… I don’t. Unless there were good reason to. - Instead of trying to get around whatever he might be doing (or might not be, maybe its just a threat), maybe you guys should sit down and talk about boundaries, rules, and expectations.
- Use encrypted DNS servers like NextDNS and use a VPN like NordVPN or Proton VPN.
