So I’m curious to know how and why some of all of you came to be Steelers fans. I live in Iowa and even when I was little I was a Steelers fan. My dad, who is a Bears fans the pour soul, asked me one day when I was little. “Son who do you like for football”? Apparently my response was “I like the Steelers because they steal the ball”. Ever since then I’ve blead black and gold! Always have and always will! So what are some of your guys story. How and why did you become a Steelers fan?

When I was 8 and starting to like football, my best friend had a brother who was obnoxious as hell. He was a Browns fan and thought their shit don’t stink This turned Mr off. That week I watched football abd the Steelers were on, I remember my friends brother saying that the Steelers suck. So I chose the Steelers and 51 years later we know how this turns out, as I am still a fan and he is still miserable! P. S. From Northwest Ohio with no PA connections.

I’m from South Africa and my family friends emigrated to Pittsburgh. We visited them shortly afterwards, although I really wasn’t into NFL then. I got a copy of Madden (in the 2000s when it was good), learned a bit more about the sport and chose a team I had a connection to. Who would have think they would have won the Super Bowl that year?

I grew up in the area in a big football family with a lot of ties to the organization. Quite a few uncles on the coaching staff over the years as well as the longtime/current team doctor.

It’s something in the air or water around Pittsburgh. Every post season I tell myself it’s not worth getting emotionally invested in this team, and every preseason I’m back for more

I am from Florida. When I was 5 or 6 I saw the Mean Joe Greene Coke commercial. I asked my dad who he was. He told me. That was it.

My grandfather was born and raised in McKees Rocks and worked endless hours to produce steel for the city of Pittsburgh.

My father was born and raised in Coraopolis and produced steel for the city of Pittsburgh. Then was enlisted in the US Air Force for many years.

I was born in Atlanta and I work 9-5 at a cushy desk job and still find ways to complain. I’m coddled and kind of a little bitch. But boy do I love my Steelers.

My very first television memory is the Pittsburgh Steelers and Los Angeles Ram Super Bowl in January of 1980.

In Pittsburgh it’s just sort of given. It’s not an exaggeration that Sundays were as much about football vs church and God.

You could always tell on a monday by people’s moods what happened in the game.

Back in my toddler years, I noticed that the team logo was the same logo as was on my pressed steel toy trucks. Got interested. Saw the Immaculate Reception game on TV. Was hooked ever since.

Uncle taught me about football. He was a diehard from Pittsburgh that got to see all the super bowls growing up.
