Came here to say the same thing, I was just playing it like 30 minutes ago. It’s in alpha and it’s already sooo good. If you played the original Total Annihilation then you’ll probably love it.

Hmmm no steam page before release?

That looks like a blunder to me. I would have wishlisted that game on the spot.

You don’t need to wishlist it though?

I know a Steam release is planned down the line but it is a free game so you gain nothing by having it on Steam compared to standalone version.

Just realistic. The average PC player uses a lot steam and organize their gaming around that. My wishlist is also where I put games I want to follow and track their development. Sure they could have their own private forums or discord community but honestly they are missing out on visibility.

It is a fact at this point that steam wishlisting system helped tremendously some games to keep their inertia and hype going until release or early access.

I don’t doubt what you say but there is a whole other audience that don’t care, want or need it to be on Steam. I’d assume the crossover between open-source fans and Steam isn’t much… and commercial success isn’t the focus.

Whaaat? The developer that already fucked over their fans once now do it again? What a strange singular thing to happen, definitely not a trend or anything.

And yes I’m still salty over the rugpull they did with Planetary Annihilation: Titans.

They released PA in Early Access, then continued development and published that better more complete game as PA: Titans. And you had to buy it again if you weren’t a backer but a filthy peasant who supported them during Early Access instead of during the Kickstarter.

Their other two games struggled but got good enough that I enjoyed them. So I’ll wait and see if they figure their crap out.

If you’re itching for a factory game that’s not as well known yet Dyson Sphere Project. I picked it up about a month ago and am nearing 200 hours in it and am hooked!

I also loved Satisfactory and Factorio.

Can second dyson sphere project. It’s a variant on factorio that doesn’t sacrifice the factory part of the factory game for story and exploration, something that always makes me bounce off satisfactory.

Shame. I backed Planetary Annihilation back in the day and I enjoyed it. I was a fan of Total Annihilation.

Is it still the same developers?

I played a lot of TA as a kid, didn’t know the devs had made a new RTS, but the art style from the game in the link sure looks very reminiscent of TA.

I’m sure I remember when PA was first announced it was the first ludicrously overpriced game for early access, and they said the reason was that they only wanted people truly invested in the game to give feedback. It was a clear attempt at a money grab from those most excited. Given this is the same people I’m not surprised by their tactics.

They do stuff like that, and honestly its not clear of its stupid, a rip off, or a desperation play.

Back when super monday night combat was about to die due to an insular player base and some actual light but real P2W aspects they introduced an opt in gpu bitcoin miner that gave you credits towards in game skins. This was back when bitcoin was like $600, and just starting to look like a thing, if a very stupid one. They were also selling some of their premium skins for $30, which was insane back in the 2010s.

The above was met with heavy mockery and nearly zero uptake from the community, and the whole game, which was a very rad and unique arena shooter, ended shortly after.
