With some exception of B58 (& others) engined cars, you’re playing roulette at that mileage. Why’s it still in your fleet? A coworker of mine just bought a 340i with over 110k miles, said the greatest driving machine is at its greatest at the fraction of MSRP
100k miles is a mystical figure! Somehow holds a power in our minds that all is doomed but the reality is 100k miles with sound maintenance is absolutely fine, it’s all a lottery anyway
Because I like it and it’s reliable
230k km on my E46 330ci, I daily drive it, no issues whatsoever
Why do people think 100k is a big deal? It is not a big deal if you took care of the car properly and drive it normally. BMW has very solid drivetrain and engine if you didn’t buy the crazy V8s that requires very expensive maintenance. I think the only thing being some of the wear tear items like hoses, oil pumps, water pumps, and sensors go out that can be expensive to replace if you go to the dealer. But these aren’t major breakdown items.
‘11 328i 180k miles. Sometimes its ok to just, you know, keep your car and drive it.
Having another truck as my daily 😂
In all seriousness, doing maintenance BEFORE things have a chance to fail. Knock on wood, mine has only seen the flatbed once and I chalk that up to being very proactive with service. I DIY everything that I can to keep it affordable, plus it’s fun.
I love my N55. Btw, its an underrated engine. Alpina used the N55, which says a lot IMHO.
20 year old 525i with 165k on the clock. Runs great, has 3 pedals. Why would I replace it?
This post has brought out the entirety of the “pre-2016” club lol. Funny how positive the bunch is when asked about there cars versus the new ones.
I don’t really do long distance drives since I live in a major city with places nearby and a metro system (only fly for vacations). I’m the only owner of a 2001 with 120K miles and it takes me from A to B. Right now everything has gotten so much more expensive so I’m just waiting another 4-5 years before upgrading to something more modern and current. I guess it helps that I have a fairly reliable Indy shop for repair and maintenance. I used to stress out finding a business that won’t lie and rob me. It’s also paid off and still drives well as long as you address issues early and have regular maintenance.
