Rich McKay. I said something 2 weeks ago about this, and then yesterday in the post game thread I saw someone else mention it to. He’s been the one person besides Blank himself who’s been through 5, yes FIVE different head coaches so far…
Want to know why we don’t draft players with “Character Concerns”? Rich McKay. Who’s the VP of Football Operations? Rich McKay. Who’s the head of the competition committee for the last 30 years including 26 as Chairman? Rich McKay.
Rich has overseen the hiring of Jim Mora, Bobby Petrino, Mike Smith, Dan Quinn, and now Arthur Smith. He also hired Dimitroff and Fontenot.
How many VPs of Football operations get to go through 5 different head coaches?? Until McKay is gone, I firmly believe we will continue to have issues from head to toe in this organization.
Rich McKay wiki is mad interesting tbh. Had no idea he was part of Tampa and their championship with Dungy and Sapp.

It feels like Arthur Blank loves to hire his buddies and friends and family. Nepo hires every where you fucking look in ATL
I hear you, but I still don’t think anyone truly knows or has any proof or what kind or how much input he provides. It’s def some, there’s no doubt, but none us know the inner working of that front office. And acting like that fixes all of our issues and somehow magically gives us a better chance is weird to me. I think a lot of simply boils down to: winning and finding the right combination of people in the NFL is super difficult.
He led the coaching search with final approval by Blank. The falcons didn’t have a GM when they hired Smith, so who do you think had Blanks ear for this hire?
Been saying for years but he’s Blanks buddy and well liked around the league apparently. He ain’t going anywhere tbh
Yeah keep blaming everyone that’ll fix the problem. First it was Ridder, then it was Heinicke ("Offense will POP OFF with Heinicke lol?), then it’s Smith’s fault, then Mckay lmao. Just blame and fire everyone and things will get better.
Falcons show why they are the prototype poverty franchise.
