Let’s all take a sec and appreciate that we finally have a coach that is holding our players accountable.

As much as I love Ivey and think he’s going to be a great player, the horrid defense and turnovers are things that need to be improved on if he wants to stay on the floor.

Hopefully Wiseman getting a DNP lights a fire under his ass and maybe he starts setting actual screens and playing some defense.

The Casey days are over, no more blatant tank jobs (at least hopefully not right after the ASB anymore) and no more BS on the court that our young guys get to play through for “development”. Development will come if our boys are playing high level basketball on a consistent basis. Praising effort, defense, and high BBIQ is how Detroit has always done it.

We are so back. Cade is Him. Go Pistons.

TLDR: thank god we’re not putting a circus act out on the floor every night anymore

What im hype about is the fact that our players are being praised for the right things and criticized for the right things… Im expecting 30 wins.

Sorry if I made it seem like I thought we were playoff bound, im just used to watching us stick around for the first half only to get the doors blown off in the 3rd quarter and we never recover

Edit: Im still gonna be realistic this team might not take a massive leap forward, but watching Casey refuse to take guys out that were making awful decision after awful decision was just hard to watch. Just happy we have a guy running the show that won’t let that fly anymore

I agree with you that Monty takes people accountable, and that we are in for a fun season. I just don’t want us to be the 15th seed again. I would be happy with 30 to 35 wins this season easily. If Cade develops into maybe an all star, that is all we can ask for atm. I just want to have fun watching the Pistons man. Also, that defensive play, where Cade swatted it, then Stew put on a defensive effort and then Duren blocked it was amazing.

i agree with this to some level

but i still think the last play is not good enough for the 2nd highest paid coach in the league

I think it’s fair to say that it could have been one of those legend-making moments for Cade.

Like maybe Monty was of the mind that if Cade hits this shot, he’s rocketed into mythology as a cold blooded dude.

Realistically, the NBA comes down to if you make the playoffs or not. We’ll probably still be bottom third of the ladder. Why not see if Cade can ice a game like that?

I would bet a lot of money that the Wiseman DNP was simply done because it was a good rotational move, not to hold him accountable or anything haha. There might be some nights where we need his size off the bench, but Bagley is the much better player for the most part.

I know that’s not the main point, but last year it felt insane that people were freaking out at how many minutes he was getting, like we weren’t actively tanking and shutting guys down by that point. I always saw that as a trial run for Wiseman, and we saw what he was

I agree that last year was a trial run for Wiseman, but after so many phantom screens and 5 dribble post ups without looking up I couldn’t take any more wiseman minutes, but I got so used to just seeing guys do horrible things and then start the next game with no repercussions.

Wise has all the potential in the world but he just can’t contribute to a winning style of basketball. I would call it bittersweet to see him get a DNP but I really don’t care tbh, bagley has earned the backup big minutes

I get that, but to me it was pretty clear that the only reason he had such a long leash is because half our squad was shut down and we were in full tank mode. When Eugene Omoruyi is getting 20-30 minutes it’s really hard for me to take anything away from the games at all.

I feel like people are constantly overreacting to meaningless games—like how during the preseason all those people were saying that we should be concerned about Cade, and that Ausar might be the best player on the team. All it took was literally one half of an actual meaningful game to prove them all wrong

It’s only been one night and I get that but I’m with you brother. I saw a lot of fight and we fought people hard last year, but we honestly should’ve won this game which says A LOT. Our first quarter/half turnovers killed us.

I was very happy to see that our starting lineup from the offseason (with no spacing) made no difference for Cade because he’s that good. I think they wanted Cade to build connections with players and work on certain stuff. Cade is daddy.

This game did feel a lot more like that first year of Bet and Stew when we played and fought in games. Didn’t lie down and made playing us a bitch, hope it continues…

Jaden Ivy has a fake bag like Giannis, except he doesn’t have Giannis‘s physique. So if he doesn’t become a respectful three-point shooter-to give him space to run past people-his career is cooked.

Seems like Bagley simply beat Wiseman for the backup C spot. Bagley played with good energy last night
