Finished watching the postgame interviews, and couldn’t help but notice both Pascal and Malachi make subtle references to the crowd (Pascal mentions how energy being drained after every mistake from the crowd, Malachi said the crowd only got into it in the second half).

Now these players are professionals, and many of them played in empty arenas for basically a season — but I can’t help but wonder if our home crowd has changed over the years. Been seeing a few social media posts showing “sold out crowds” having tons of empty seats. To anyone who’s been to a game this year, how’s the crowd been compared to previous seasons?

The Raptors entire team gave nothing to cheer about in the first half, just be glad this city never boos the team like many other cities will 😆

I mean if his play doesn’t really this year, he may very well be out of the league after this season. I’d be dejected too.

They get paid millions to play, maybe don’t play like dogshit to start the game and you won’t put the crowd into a deep depression?

I took it more as them saying that when you go down big, it takes the crowd out of the game, so you can’t rely on them to pump you up.

A lot of “true fans” have been priced out, and tickets are going to corporations who give them out as a social experience. (You can both be well off and a true fan before anyone @'s me)

I think this has resulted in a more laissez faire crowd, who needs the team to provide them the energy. On the positive side, players are less likely to be jeered when not doing well.

I get it, but at the same time, that first half was dreadful. Are people supposed to force themselves to cheer?

People in this sub like to point out how the people that go to games are suits and no real fans, but then you look in the comments here during the first half and I think a lot of this sub’s “fans” would have been heavily booing the team in the first half
