I just want to admit that the thunder are not my team, so I don’t follow the team as much as the C’s. But Giddey is one of my favourite players in the nba. I don’t understand why I only see hate posts about this great man, The SLOB WIZARD!.

I think it’s standard for a team in this position to have a scapegoat of sorts, it’s just in preparation for if things go wrong 😅 Giddey hasn’t been great so far this season, but I think it’s mostly people wanting to see if he’ll turn it around! The criticism is a bit much, especially for our position and youth, but let’s see if the view switches when Giddey has a good game.

Some fans think we should be chip chasing atm instead developing a team that can chip chase for 5 years.

Why? Delusion. Boredom. Inability to appreciate how solid this (very) young core is as a whole. But hey, if Josh Giddey is the weak link (because, ya know, “slow” start to the first few games) then we as Thunder fans are in for a great ride over the next few years. If only we had some draft picks to keep backfilling our roster with young talent on affordable deals………

I love Josh Giddey. He’s not shooting great to start the season and he’s not really getting calls, but he’s very smart and very young. He’s going to figure it out and be a major reason why the Thunder get over the hump. I see him as being a 15-6-7 guy who can pop off for 30 point triple doubles if the other team doesn’t execute a game plan for him. He might never be a 40% 3pt shooter but he could be a lower volume shooter in the 34-36% range.

He might even be able to add 15-20more lbs of muscle to be the guy who helps solve some of the teamwide defensive rebounding issues.

I haven’t seen anyone say that they hate Giddey. I haven’t seen many that are hell bent on trading him. But I have seen several that are very down on his play, which is, in fact warranted.

Giddey has played like rubber dog shit so far this year. We can all hope that changes.

I think that the group that sees Giddey’s poor play is much larger than a few people. Anyone who is halfway objective wants to see Giddey’s minutes cut drastically.

We are about 12% of the way through the season already and so far Giddey has been consistently bad. I predict that if Giddey hasn’t turned it around in another 10 games you will see how many people who are disappointed but quiet about it now actually exist.

The only people right now who are vocally defending him are non objective Giddey knob polishers. Rookies are objectively outplaying a guy who has played two full NBA seasons.

I don’t know why people expect his shot to consistently improve with him shooting the ball like a shot put. I don’t think you will see shot improvement until he changes the way he shoots the ball.

People hated dort cuz of his inefficiency and now that he’s efficient they love him.

People mostly are hating on giddey cuz he’s been inefficient and plays bad defense but there aren’t many guys in the nba that can pass like him. As a 6’8 pg there aren’t many guys that can put up 16.6ppg/ 8rpg / 6apg in the league. He may never be an efficient shooter but he’ll do a lot better over the whole season than he’s done in the first 10 games this year.

He is probably best suited to be the 6th man distributor and playmaker off the bench though because as long as he’s been in the league he’s always been better when he’s not playing with shai or if shai misses the whole game.

Given that, a 3rd year slump is not necessarily the worst thing for okc given they’ll be able to extend him for closer to $20 mil vs a full $35 mil max if he has a down year.

While I’d like to see a trade with okc this season, I would only give up giddey for a true star.

Source: I’ve watched every single game of Josh Giddey’s career save for maybe two or three.

It’s not a matter of hate. Giddey seems like a great teammate who connects well with the rest of the team off the court. I like him in interviews and think he’s very intelligent.

There’s two pretty large issues on the horizon, though. In his time since arriving in Oklahoma City, he’s not shown a single stretch of games where he’s shown that he can play off of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. That’s an issue for any starter, but it’s a major issue for a guy who’s likely going to demand $27,500,000+ in extension talks this offseason, which leads us to the largest issue…

We can’t afford to pay an awkward fit that much money, point blank. I’m not sure how familiar you all are with the new CBA, but once you go over the second apron, it becomes really damn hard to make moves as a whole. Giddey is not a guy worth going into the second apron for if you’re Sam Presti.

The largest issue to me this season specifically is that the development of Jalen Williams’ on ball ability has kind of outsourced Giddey, especially in the non-Shai minutes. Think about our starting lineup, Giddey is the fourth most effective on-ball player, but the least effective off-ball player. It’s a problem and the only answer is to either put the ball in his hands, or to not play him extended minutes, which has been a trend this season.

Why do you all screech “hater!” whenever a valid point is made? Are you that incapable of understanding roster construction?

You didn’t earn that tag for making valid points about roster construction lol You got it for bashing him at every opportunity and saying he was a bad basketball player 5 games into the season. He just turned 21 years old, give him a minute.
