On a back to back all starters played 33+ mins (besides grimes who hit 3 in a row and didn’t see the ball again). Thibs always had this problem with his rotations and with this being the 3rd back to back of a 10 game season I really think he has to adjust some things I know rj was out but I feel there wasn’t any reason why McBride couldn’t check in or Sims.
Mcbride and sims playing in this game and we would have gotten blown out way earlier than we did
Yes, it was a B2B. But it was a night game after a day game and the team had 3 days off before that. Besides, the bench really didn’t play well last night, as Alan Hahn pointed out. They were outplayed by Boston’s bench. Given more time to limited offensive players wouldn’t have helped much on balance, even if they might have played better defense.
In any event, whose “staters” minutes would McBride have taken? You already think Grimes should have gotten more burn. Would you have sat Brunson more? IQ?
Same question for Sims. I guess you could argue that he could have taken some of JHart’s minutes (when he was in for Randle) but what would he have added defensively or offensively that Hart didn’t? And JHart and Randle had the best +/- numbers on the team so why would you cut either of their minutes?
Tbh I think we just need another solid wing. Idc how good Hart and IQ are on defense. When you’re 6’3 6’4 guarding a 6’8 6’9 guy you’re at a size disadvantage and the good players like the Tatums, KD etc will just shoot over you. McBride or Sims wouldn’t have made a difference. We need more size.
Are we expanding the rotation to 10?
wdym “thibs has always had a problem with his rotations?” like playing RJ and JR too much a few years ago?
i actually think he does a great job with the rotation. he gets a ton of wins out of this squad, we’re the only playoff team without a pair of dudes in the top 30
