My neighbor wants to sell me his Gen 1 500 GB Steam Deck (its in great shape) so he can get the OLED version. What is a fair price range? There are no right/wrong answers just curious what the resale market looks with the new line coming out.

I got $350 (before fees and shipping) for my 512 GB and a couple of extra stuff.

$500 CAD is what I’m selling mine for so I can get the OLED. I don’t know what’s fair but a new 512gb LCD deck is $550 CAD new and my deck is in perfect condition.

$350 is a fair price for a well cared for Steam Deck maximum.

For reference I just sold my 256gb on ebay on Monday for $295.00, fees netted me $251.00. With a Dbrand tempered glass screen protector and jsaux silicone case included. I was wondering if I let it go for too little $$ based on most people still having their 256gb decks listed for $350-$400 on ebay. But there’s no way someone would buy a used 256gb for $350/$400 plus shipping when they can get a brand new one straight from valve for $399.99.

considering after tax I paid like 700 for my deck, I’d rather just keep it and enjoy it for years to come rather than sell it for peanuts now that the oled is out. When the actual steam deck 2 is out I’ll think about getting that one but probably keep my original. It’s like a part of gaming history at this point, plus it can do a LOT more than a regular old console

Yeah, seems like a lot of people are willing to sell their OG deck for a significant loss to buy an OLED, so in reality, the OLED will actually cost them quite a bit more. There’s no way I’d take that big of a loss on my hardware. If I want an OLED in the future I’ll buy one, but I’m keeping my OG 512. I still think people are over-hyping the OLED screen.

$250 on the generous side, $350 on the higher but still fair side. More than $350 is kind of ridiculous considering you can get a new 256gb for $400. Yeah it’s more storage but you can always do the upgrade yourself, and have better support from Valve on the new unit if anything goes awry.

Probably >$250. No one wants to talk about it, but these things are bathroom buddies, so imagine what drifts in there…

Sold my 1tb mint condition deck for 400. Came with a perfect positioned screen protector installed. Was a 64gb deck but had a high quality Corsair mp600 1tb drive installed
