Lue lost this game when he went small. It made no sense.
He’s a question mark. The offensive line is objectively awful and might be the worst in the league. His number one receiver is a guy who is approaching his mid 30s. Sanders and Hurst have been two of the biggest free agency busts in the NFL. I fully expect the team to prioritize WRs and OL in the off season. If he’s still not producing after they do that then he will definitely be considered a bust and the trade for him will go down as one of the very worst in league history.
The front office completely set up Bryce Young to fail and people should have seen it coming from a mile away. All of that money they gave to Hurst, Sanders, and Chark should have been spent on the offensive line. Every penny of it. Then in subsequent drafts you go after skill players on cheap rookie contracts. WRs, RBs, etc. They essentially drafted a franchise QB, play him behind a horrific line, gave him an awful coaching staff, and overpaid for skill players who can’t get separation and can’t run behind the horrific line. And people wonder why he has looked like crap.
That Bryce Young trade is going to look like franchise suicide in retrospect. I’m not going to call him a bust just yet, but that was a steep price to pay and Chicago could get generationally better if they don’t whiff on their picks.
It will take four to five seasons to overturn this roster…just in time for a Bryce Young extension. The dumbest front office in the NFL.
Reich is a big issue, but no coach can turn chicken shit into chicken salad. The entire team needs to be overhauled outside of a few players. The roster construction is the single biggest issue and it will take years to fix it.
I think the only way to fix this team is to sign legitimate offensive weapons and draft nothing but offensive lineman. The defense has major needs as well, but the offense is the most painful to watch in the NFL. The Hurst and Sanders signings are two of the very worst in the NFL this past offseason.
Listen, I’m not giving up on Young just yet but wasn’t his best ability supposed to be reading defenses? The past two weeks have shown that he can’t read defenses whatsoever. All we heard in the pre draft and draft was this guy was a savant at reading defenses and scored so highly on tests and I’ve watched him misread defenses virtually the entire year.
The Lakers bet on the wrong Heat free agent. I think Strus would have been a much better fit. They desperately still need shooting.
I honestly don’t think that this Clipper team works unless you move one of the four to the bench in a six man role. They also probably need to trade Powell if they can. If they brought Harden in as a facilitator then I think he has to start. Maybe move Russ to the bench as a spark plug and stagger Leonard and George. All four of them out there at the same time isn’t going to work.
