I would just like to thank the Browns for helping the Steelers right the ship. See you in the playoffs…… oh wait.

One of the criticisms of the Steelers playbook was how basic it was. just Xs and Os with no depth. most OCs have multiple layers to plays that all players need to understand and be able to recognize. eg: if man coverage, do this. if zone do this. If outside leverage, do this. if zone blitz, do this. etc. Each play containing multiple pages of notes. Thisis why players talk about studying the play book. This is one of the reasons behind so many break downs between Kenny and the jets. With no specific guidance on what to do in situations, players must fall back on their experience. different experiences means different decisions, means Kenny throwing to empty spots.

I expect a reduced playbook with more complexity that will expand each week. I hope.

I’d call Tony Romo before Byron.

Good move. I know people will pound Kenny next game, but let’s give at least 3 games to see improvement.

Kenny may not be it. But I feel like the Steelers broke him. No easy plays to get him on schedule. No route concepts over the middle. No go balls. Nothing schemed for the strengths of the players. Nothing schemed for situations. Now Kenny is either holding and throwing late or rushing and throwing high and wide. Even routine downs feel like a panic and a prayer.

Next year if he fails under a real OC

Hard to argue that this is not the worst 6-3 team ever. Out gained in all 9 games. Never been done with a winning record. So, by the numbers, worst 6-3 team ever.
