Recently IJax has played very well.

A couple blow outs (in both directions) in a small sample size.

… All those players were benched for poor defense at times against Portland AND all season (despite what some of you are spouting off about Buddy not being punished for poor defense).

Benn literally asked Rick to coach him hard. So when he goes out there and repeats mistakes that they likely just went over, while Carlisle is yelling instructions at him from the sideline, and he still fucks up basic help coverage that you start learning in grade school, he should get his ass chewed, as everyone who had ever played competitive sports knows.

Also if coach is yelling at you, that means you are worthy of his attention. Head Coaches don’t have time for players even if they fuck up if they aren’t talented enough to warrant the attention (again something you pick up on after playing competitive sports for awhile).

Buddy is old and not under contract after this season, not worth the effort. Tyrese is the best player on the team and he already gets on himself enough that a benching is likely all that needs to happen after a bad defensive fuck up. Obi, maybe he doesn’t take aggressive coaching well and Rick is smart enough to know that, or maybe the 5th starter possible future bench player isn’t worth the head coaches time and an assistant handled it.

Also, Utah sucks worse than us with basically no playoff chances, Taylor Hendricks is in the g-league as well as Jarace. They are like the two youngest draft picks this year, it’s fine. Jarace will get his time when he is ready, or if we could be at the shit out of teams like Detroit and Portland like we should.

For sure, I’ll say this about Buddy and Bruce, when Buddy isn’t hitting three’s and he is fucking up on defense he is still in constant motion on offense and his man(along with multiple other members of the defense) has to follow him, or hedge off of Obi/Bruce in the corner, or keep an eye on him and communicate. This works magic for Tyrese (usually) and the cutters creating open lanes and space for threes.

Bruce is just more reliable on defense, even last night when everyone is fuckin up, Bruce fucks up less.

Bennedict does not have this effect. If Bennedict is not paying attention on defense and his offense is off he has to come out because he isn’t doing anything.

A team is a social construct. You damage the foundation when you don’t follow the “rules” of competition.

Playing time is earned not given. You can’t just play worse players in front of others it has a lasting effect on a team. We are too good to not try to win, blame Tyrese.

When it’s close you can get away with it, Mathurin playing over Buddy to start the season for instance. IJax over Jalen in certain circumstances. Jarace isn’t performing as good as Nwora right now in practice (I assume based on depth chart) let alone Nesmith or Obi. When he closes that gap he will get more minutes.

I’d expect Jarace to hop Nwora in the lineup by the end of December, hopefully he is a regular in the lineup post trade deadline. Although there’s a chance that he is buried after the deadline if the Pacers go after someone (not what I expect but it’s possible).

He has sucked at shooting (his only skill we actually care about) coming off the bench this year. Although he did suck last night as a starter.

That fourth quarter was something! Scary but I was still pretty confident for some reason, these boys got me believing.

I’m confused by your comment about the preseason. IJax had the shaky preseason. All Jalen did was play well and out play IJax and Thies. I guess he struggled some in his last preseason game but he definitely showed out in the preseason, especially compared to his competition.

Still a back to back against a team that runs and plays fast. Watch for the Pacers to have a very strong second half, where the Cavs struggle to get into set defenses.
