  • I do think that the recent animosity towards Bill has more to do with the offense as a whole and Mac’s lack progression than Mac Jones himself.

But I do agree on pumping the break. To me, Mac still seems like a decent pick at 15 to me- but for whatever reason he has significantly regressed since his rookie season here, but if you switch that season for this current one- then the conversation is completely different.

I even think people should be patient toward the idea of getting rid of Mac Jones and that drafting a new QB will instantly solve our problems. In the same vein, we replaced Matt Patricia thinking Bill O’Brien would solve our offenses problems. But after this season we can see the problem on offense is bigger than simply one player or one coach. And there’s no telling that what happened to Mac Jones won’t happen to Caleb Williams or Bo Nix.

Ultimately, when the problems on offense seem bigger than the team itself, the only thing people can point to is a change in coaching or front office. Even during the Brady days, it has felt like Belichick deprived our offense of top-tier weapons, whether in free agency or draft. For so many years, it was Brady’s talent level that made up for the deficiencies of our offensive personnel.

I think with Mac Jones not showcasing that level of talent (or simply showing the regression we’ve seen) fans don’t want to wait around for Belichick to luckily draft the next Brady nor do fans trust Belichick to build a competent offense. I don’t think any Pats fan wants Bill gone necessarily, we just want the same types of teams he’s been fielding for the 20 years prior and people are beginning to question if he’s still capable of doing that.
