So, when it comes to talking around Mac… Now that people are finally coming to the realization that Jones is just not very good. It seems many in this sub and Boston media say:

" Well Bill Belichick drafted Mac Jones!"

My question for the people that say this is… OK, well what QB should he have taken?

People seem to be oblivious to the fact that getting A franchise quarterback is hard… Many of you have no clue who the fuck Tommy Hodson is, but there have been many times when we had shit QB play pre Drew Bledsoe.

Some franchises will go decades with out ever finding a good QB. (Cleveland Browns).

This fan base needs some patience… People want to get rid of the greatest coach of all time because we have had a downturn in QB play. Get a fucking clue.

He’s made terrible decisions in the draft, free agency, hiring his friends (Matt Patricia as OC, Bob again), promoting his sons. He was an excellent coach with Brady and they were the perfect fit and complement to each other. However, four years later and the team is not only one of the worst teams in the league, there are few of any players of value, the O line is a mess, no quality skill players at RB, wr, te, QB play is bottom quarter. Even defense and st has fallen apart. Other than cap space and a high draft pick, there are two dozen holes to fill.

Nothing really but another example of cronyism. I think the team would benefit from outside perspectives and coaching candidates that didn’t only come through the Patriots way.

The wrong decision wasn’t taking Mac it was failing to support him with appropriate coaching and talent around him.

Bullshit, the fact we made the playoff’s three years ago was a masterclass in coaching and personnel.

Mac will not play for another team unless he is a backup and the starter gets hurt. He is not good, he never was.

I do think that the recent animosity towards Bill has more to do with the offense as a whole and Mac’s lack progression than Mac Jones himself.

But I do agree on pumping the break. To me, Mac still seems like a decent pick at 15 to me- but for whatever reason he has significantly regressed since his rookie season here, but if you switch that season for this current one- then the conversation is completely different.

I even think people should be patient toward the idea of getting rid of Mac Jones and that drafting a new QB will instantly solve our problems. In the same vein, we replaced Matt Patricia thinking Bill O’Brien would solve our offenses problems. But after this season we can see the problem on offense is bigger than simply one player or one coach. And there’s no telling that what happened to Mac Jones won’t happen to Caleb Williams or Bo Nix.

Ultimately, when the problems on offense seem bigger than the team itself, the only thing people can point to is a change in coaching or front office. Even during the Brady days, it has felt like Belichick deprived our offense of top-tier weapons, whether in free agency or draft. For so many years, it was Brady’s talent level that made up for the deficiencies of our offensive personnel.

I think with Mac Jones not showcasing that level of talent (or simply showing the regression we’ve seen) fans don’t want to wait around for Belichick to luckily draft the next Brady nor do fans trust Belichick to build a competent offense. I don’t think any Pats fan wants Bill gone necessarily, we just want the same types of teams he’s been fielding for the 20 years prior and people are beginning to question if he’s still capable of doing that.

I hope, assuming Mac gets on another team, that he plays well. I really do think he has the potential to be a great QB.

Nothing i said was wrong. I hope he does well and i believe he has the ability to be great. He has less than zero confidence right now and it seems like no one is doing anything to help him.

This would imply that Mac’s the only reason that this team is awful, but he’s not. Don’t get me wrong Mac’s a problem, but he’s not the one who thought it’d be a good idea to let Patricia and Judge run the offense. He’s not the one that’s neglected the offense over the last 5-7 years, and whiffed on all the picks in the rare instances where we did invest in offense. Mac’s not the reason why our players have had poor fundamentals and discipline the last two years.

BB is the greatest coach of all time, and I will always be grateful for what he’s done for the Patriots the last 25 years. But ignoring his part in how this team is where it is today is just pure delusion.

OK, well what QB should he have taken?

He should never have gotten rid of Brady to begin with.

Belichick should have paid Brady instead of being an arrogant POS, built a decent team around Brady, and in that time work on developing the next guy for when Brady retires in 3 years.

Instead, Belichick’s ego got the best of him. He thought he could win with anyone. Turns out he can’t.
