  • lol what? How is Capela suddenly the centerpiece of our team to the point that we have to commit to a rebuild without him? Capela barely fits our new defensive system. The writing is on the wall that he will be traded.

Onyeka is 22 years old and playing in a brand new defensive system this season. He can definitely have a strong end to the season. Jalen is the perfect rebounding power forward to play next to him. OO isn’t that far off from being able to start. He really needs to work on fouling but if he can stay on the court and you put a 6’10 to 7ft+ center who can rebound and block shots behind him we’ll be fine without Capela.

Dejounte is the 88th highest paid player in the league. He is a valuable member of the team but the idea that he is “paired” with Trae is incorrect. Once we have another max contract player on the team we can talk about who Trae is paired with.

This team will have a gaping hole until JJ develops into an All NBA forward or we bring one in from the outside.

We were missing a starter/our best defender this year and we were on the 2nd night of a back to back where we had to circle the Boston airport for 30 minutes and didn’t land until 2am.

If Trae were playing like he was 2 weeks ago it would have been much worse.

We’re 13th in net rating even though we clearly don’t have a full grasp of the offensive and defensive systems. There have been noticeable miscommunication issues.

Which isn’t surprising. Quin runs a notoriously hard offensive system to master. To back this up, Quin’s Utah teams always had slow starts even when they ended up a top seed.

    2021/2022 - 4-4 start before finishing 49-33

    2019/2020 - 12-10 start before finishing 44-28

    2018/2019 - 9-12 start before finishing 50-32

    2017/2018 - 19-28 start before finishing 48-34

We’re playing better defense overall I believe but our defensive system doesn’t match our personnel. I think we’re a move or two away from being really good but once we get Jalen back and are more comfortable in Quin’s system I expect us to go on a streak and be a handful of games over .500 by the trade deadline.

We also haven’t had easy matchups and the schedule doesnt easier until the end up December
