No. The OLED runs much cooler. Like high 60 low 70’s with Starfield.

Try setting the update channel to beta. It may be a USB detection issue. My external drives would not show up default.
For a handheld gaming console the deck is my preference. Have an LCD, OLED and Ally. Dock TV play I use a GTR7 Pro (7940hs with an 85 watt TDP) mini pc.
Bought the Legion Go last week and returned it the next day. Almost Identical performance as the Ally with a less polished UI and software experience. The screen is nice but not on par with the OLED.
Docked performance is just as disappoint as the Ally. The GTR7 Pro plays Starfield at a consistent 53 fps in the worst areas.
If you need Windows or are trying to use it as your primary PC then the Legion Go would be the best choice. Other than that the OLED would be my choice all around.

Hardly use the Ally. The battery drains so fast and the and the overall experience is ok. Getting non steam games up and running is much easier on the Ally and Legion GO but the overall experience one all the tweaking is done is mediocre.
If you do not play a lot of Windows only games the OLED is the way to go in my opinion.
As for the Legion Go it has a nice large screen but the Software is a mess. It is cumbersome and noticeably heavier than LCD. It felt just as bad as the Ally when it first came out software wise.
The OLED feels significantly light than the LCD and more comfortable than the Ally for my hands.
The way I knew my LCD deck was on was the fan. OLED is so quiet you do not hear the fan
Switching to the latest update in the Beta channel also resolves the no USB drive issue.
You can use an external dock with NVMe slot. But at that point why not just get a 2TB NVMe.
The SN770/SN740 maxes out the PCIe 3.0 lanes. It is just as fast as the 1TB in my brief tests before upgrading the drive.
Same bought a legion go last Saturday afternoon and returned it Sunday morning. Ordered the OLED Monday morning after debating if the new screen was worth it.
Glad I did.
I just swapped the LCD SSD in the OLED. It will automatically update the drivers on boot so make sure to have internet connection.
Mine was delivers a day early. Was supposed to arrive Saturday and ended up coming on Friday via UPS.
Black Friday and Cyber Monday may impact delivery times.
The model is JETABS001TK000330401595. Same with QR code.
Have it sitting on my desk, upgraded to the SN770 2TB.
Click the battery icon in the taskbar. Near the top for the pop up menu is a check box that will allow you to keep the deck on until the power button is pressed.
Make sure disable it when done and don’t put it in the case to prevent overheating.
Got mine on Monday. The new OLED screen is definitely a step from the LCD. Really pops without the blinding light bleed.
I’m sure it is posted somewhere on valves website.
