  • Yikes. You likely damaged something. A couple solder contacts probably broke off or something if you can still charge but lost the ability to connect to your external display.

Depending on your skills, you might be challenged with something beyond just moving the port around with pliers. You’ll likely need to resolder a few contacts, and that’s if the USB-C port isn’t itself damaged.

You could maybe open it up and see for yourself just to check. But I would never recommend just trying to yank on the USB-C port with pliers… that’s just not going to make anything better.

Sold my LCD 512gb for $350. Used almost every day since launch, Q2 Steam Deck.

Just be patient, someone will bite. I had about 12 people try to low-ball me, all below $300, with a couple at 300- but possibly just fake offers as they wouldn’t talk much. But I still held out. All in all, within just about a week, I had a buyer for $350 and my interaction couldn’t have been smoother. Older guy who just wanted to buy his other kid a Steam Deck, because one already had one. Not sure if he was aware of the OLED though. Honestly though, a lot of people really won’t care about the OLED and will happily get an LCD for a bit cheaper. I would say that time does matter though and I would try to sell it sooner than later. In the end, I was blessed, possibly lucky, to have the guy who purchased mine and with just how polite he was. Didn’t even try to haggle me after agreeing on $350. He agreed with me that he hates when people try to lower prices after agreed amount.

Stick with it. You’ll find someone. Just don’t short yourself.

I hope I can get my OLED by early Wednesday morning because I’m traveling for Thanksgiving trip, like many of us probably are. Otherwise, I’m going to have to talk to my neighbour to come grab my package for me or my Steam Deck is going to be outside for almost a week.

And no, no one may have my address.
