  • The problem is KOC is not consistently playing to the strengths of our team. Our run game is easily the worst part of our offense. Why are we going to that consistently when we have a lead? I get the overall thought process, but it seems doomed to fail. Not to mention I don’t think Mattison should ever be allowed to run an outside zone ever again.

The thought process is to chew up time through the ground, then the play selection is terrible. I mean how successful has that strategy been? We scored 24 in the first half against NO, then when we went to this new KOC strategy we scored 3 points… We used this strategy in the last game for a 3 and out which lost us the game.

A coach’s accolades with a previous team have absolutely no standing in the conversation. Nathaniel Hackett was Rodger’s coach for 2 MVP seasons. It clearly doesn’t mean shit.

I would consider thinking critically before posting passive aggressive comments about how people “don’t know better”.

  • Well we are one of both the Buccaneer’s and Charger’s 4 wins respectively and that was with Kirk who has vast amounts of experience not just in the league, but in this system, so I think if you can give Kirk the benefit of the doubt for losses at home this year to bad teams, then you can give Dobbs the benefit of the doubt lol.

Dobbs is not the same passer as Kirk, that’s definitely true, but it’s not a limiting factor. He’s making plays, and more importantly, we’re winning. Seems like people have this strange idea that passing yards determines the outcomes of games instead of points which by the way our offense is now averaging more points per game under Dobbs than we did under Kirk.

Dobbs mobility is pretty damn good. He’s not running into pressure or bailing out of clean pockets. That’s just lying. When protection breaks down, Kirk takes the sack, but Dobbs can extend the play and score either by air or by legs and that’s allowing him to overcome passing deficiencies. If Kirk played that Broncos team there’d be nothing but posts after that game about how the Oline is so terrible, don’t kid yourself.

  • Yup. That’s been my thought. There’s so many parts of coaching. He excels in play design for sure, but play calling can be… Miserable sometimes. There is no reason we should be going away from our passing attack. Kirk took it to another level, but Dobbs I think still makes it serviceable.

RedZone play calling for KOC is actually definitely a huge flaw of his repertoire. The fact that a RB didn’t score a TD for us for like… 8 weeks is pretty telling.

This game was definitely a more sobering look at Dobbs. His biggest strength is mobility, but passing leaves a bit to be desired. yes there was pressure, but he was missing marks badly and there were some risky throws that should’ve been picked. I wasn’t sure what to expect as he matured in the system, but it seems like he actually got worse this game. It seemed like he was overthinking a little bit.

Some of the risky throws paid off, but man there was a lot of clenched cheeks for this game.
