I’m from the Midwest US and I know there are words and sounds I pronounce with a Midwestern accent but I can still type and spell them correctly.

Unironically Powershell is great and learning it has propelled me through the last 12 years of my career as a Sysadmin. My biggest complaints with it are generally Windows complaints or due to legacy powershell modules.

Linux has been easier to install than Windows for a while now, particularly with all the goofy hacks you have to pull out just to make an offline account on Win11.

Am I crazy? I’m not seeing “Organic Maps” on Fdroid at all. Do I need to add a specific repo?

Edit: Okay yes. I had to include ‘other antifeatures’ which it did warn me about. I hadn’t adjusted that setting beyond the default and assumed I didn’t need to go enable those things.

I’ve been testing Bazzite out on a variety of hardware. It’s very easy to setup and required no additional fiddling at all to get working, even with an Nvidia card which is the usual source of Linux gaming frustrations.

If you’re used to the limitations of the Steam Deck OS and haven’t had any issues there then you should have a good experience with Bazzite which is presented in a very similar way even if it’s a little different under the hood.

Well it may not be accurate or effective, but at least it’s expensive.

Genuinely has a great (and hilarious) soundtrack.

Linkin Park slaps so hard that even parodies of Linkin Park sound good. I always thought the hate they got was good hearted in a ‘guilty pleasure’ sort of way but then they stayed relevant long enough everyone forgot what they were supposed to be feeling guilty about.

Cloaks would be cool. I know that’s more of a fantasy aesthetic than a medieval one but they are cool enough that it shouldn’t matter.

The Asus Transformer Prime.

It was an Android tablet circa 2011, right at that time they were actually making 10" Android tablets. I bought one as soon as Android Honeycomb launched which had an improved UI and lot of new tablet focused features. I bought the optional keyboard/battery attachment and planned for it to be my tiny laptop replacement that could also play emulators and be used for reading comics. I wanted to like it so bad.

It never really panned out though, a large majority of which was because of the faulty Nvidia Tegra 3 chip. Awful performance issues, terrible wireless connectivity, overheating, battery drain and nonexistant software updates from Asus. I ran custom ROMs trying to squeeze it as much as I could but that meant I was constantly tinkering with it and having yet more problems. Eventually I even broke the screen (my fault) and painstakingly went through a whole botched screen replacement before finally deciding that it had been a huge waste of time and money and sent it to it’s grave.

At one point I triple booted my laptop with Ubuntu, Windows 7 and OSX mostly just to prove I could. Weird times, a lot has changed since then.

The adaptive triggers are great. I’ve assumed that support for them on PC is basically non-existent, does anyone know if that is true? I figured I’d be lucky if it worked on the handful of PS5 games that have come to PC.

Should I watch Megamind?

I know nothing about it except that memes indicate people like it. I’m usually on board with a DreamWorks or Pixar movie but I’d mentally sorted this one into the ‘not for me’ category along with Minions for some reason (not intending to compare the two).

I thought it was fun and I get why it’s been so exceedingly popular but they tried a little too hard to make the concept of Barbie and the concept of womanhood out to be the same thing. For a lot of people that really worked and I think that’s made it harder to criticize.

There are some really top tier moments though which made it easier to forget and forgive all the boring bits.

About two months into dating my now-wife we came across a street piano. I sat down and started playing which blew her mind. She had no idea that I could play. Somehow it hadn’t come up (I’m pretty out of practice) but she acted like it was a big secret I was keeping or something. It was kind of fun to surprise her even though I didn’t do it on purpose.
