modern mirrorless cameras are superb at night time photography
98% as good as full frame cameras
shoot with auto iso. go as low as u can with shutter speed. if u dont have a tripod, rest your camera on something.
if u are shooting a photo of one single thing, rather than a scene, buying a prime lens with a wide aperture will help… the RF 50 mm is one good choice for this.

this is a very good question.
i imagine that the physics of lenses and light play a part in this…
i wonder how much of this is a business decision?
i wanted to compare two of my better lenses… the tiny EF-M 32 mm f/1.4 and the very big and very heavy EF 85 mm f/1.2
i put the camera on f/4 and positioned the cameras so that they had approximately the same field of view of this $100 bill. I focused in the middle of Ben Franklin’s face.
i adapted the EF lens onto the M6 MkII: I wanted the same camera capturing the images. the angles of view may be slightly different. Contrast and sharpness? They look awful darn close to me.
The EF-M lens cost me a few hundred. the EF 85 cost me one or two thousand.

Canvaspop and Mpix both have done nice work for me. I always get my stuff printed on canvas. Both companies have high prices but they will send u regular emails offering “% off” deals.
i prefer canvas prints with no frame… these are on a wall in my home
i have been a Sixer fan since the 60s.
I watched Wilt, Doc, Charles and a lot of others. Joel is easily in the same category as those guys.
I did sports photography for two summers. Mostly high school age kids. 300 decent shots out of 1300? That was probably my percentage too…
i refuse to label what i do… i shoot photos of things i find interesting… or attractive.

you probably won’t damage it but every time u take a lens off, u increase the amount of dust you allow into the camera and onto the back part of your lens.
do you own more than one lens??

you didn’t ask this… but as someone susceptible to having his fingers go numb, i wanted to share this.
Consider getting heavy gloves that will allow you to still operate your camera.
i got a pair of these, which are fine all by themselves for days with 40 to 50 degree weather. the fingers allow u to use the touchpad on the back of a camera or a cellphone
i didn’t buy any of their outer layer mittens… i have an old pair of generic photography mittens that allow me to fold the fingers back to operate controls. I wear the thin liner gloves underneath the mittens. Fold the mittens back over fingers when not actually shooting.
you must have a strap on your camera.
