I’m not particularly worried about FVV’s defense. He’s not an elite defender but he’s definitely a net positive and plays above his own size. Green definitely has been a very bad defender but he has the physical tools to at least be average and maybe even 60th percentile amongst guards some day, but definitely has a lot of work to do to get here though.

Just a couple things, I think you’re pretty much right with most of the Rockets young players although I’d add that Tari is the only one that I have zero worries for particularly that he is huge on hustling and playing defense. Green, I still think has potential to be in the Lavine/Beal tier of 2-guards but needs to take a step forward this year though.

To get to 33 plus wins though, they’ll definitely need to see their top picks to justify their selections, particularly with Jabari developing as a weak side shot blocker and decent shooter/self creator, Alpi being neutral on defense and Jalen becoming more efficient and not a liability defensively.

It’s a team sport and the team wasted a lot of time and learned a lot of bad habits under Silas. Those things don’t just get fixed overnight, not to mention you gotta get all the new pieces to gel.

On the bright side, Beal didn’t make his first All Star till year 5 or maybe even year 6. I think Booker and Lavine took awhile to make AS as well. So it’s not uncommon for 2-guards to take awhile to fully develop. It’s just that Ant has been an outlier that somehow reset expectations to being too high
