But you’ll be playing screen lottery when you buy the replacement.

bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•Anyone else prefer the Deck without any accessories?English1·2 years agoMe. I don’t even use a screen protector. I think people strapping crap to their Steam Deck is ridiculously stupid. Especially batteries, dumb.

bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•Steam Deck OLED Screen Comparison: 1TB vs 512GB (Retro Game Corps)English1·2 years agoThe simple answer is to buy both and then determine for yourself.
I got both of mine in yesterday and will be returning the 1TB next week. I hate the fact that I lose some color vibrance and sharpness. Glossy wins for me.
That’s literally what I said.
Well, except the well done steak part. Gross.
bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•The colors, 90hz refresh and contrast. Insane. Pixel response is soooo sharp now. Platformers are amazing on this bad boi.English1·2 years agoGross, why would you ruin it?

Nope, that’s not how it works. Both are max brightness. The camera makes things seem a little worse though.
And brighter more vibrant and more accurate colors. And much better battery life. And… And… And…
It’s a big upgrade. Well worth it to sell your LCD assuming you can afford to come up with the extra. If not, just forget about these posts for now and enjoy your Deck.
Burn in is a thing of the past for the most part unless you abuse the system. My Vita OLED has around 4000hrs of gaming on it since launch and still looks perfect.
What kind of retro are you talking about? CRTs have way better black levels than LCD.
bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•Has steam deck made you enjoy games again?English1·2 years agoNot really, but it has absolutely broadened what I can play on the go. Living in Japan and Seattle for the last 25+ years I’ve done a lot of public transit commuting so playing on the bus/train was perfect. So when I got the Steam Deck it just entered the rotation with the Switch OLED, Vita, and 3DS. It nice being able to play PC games on the go easily now.

bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•We can all enjoy our Decks however we wantEnglish1·2 years agoI wonder if he knows yet that he’s irrelevant now? (not the dog, dogs are always relevant).
bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•We can all enjoy our Decks however we wantEnglish1·2 years agoThat’s the way people should be handling this. Plenty of people out there who want a Deck who can’t afford one.
bnr32jasonBtoSteam Deck@hardware.watch•We can all enjoy our Decks however we wantEnglish1·2 years agoWhat’s obsolate?
They are both literally issues, because etched vs glossy is a preference because there IS a difference. BOE screens being much more likely to have dead pixels is also an issue.
