You arent cut out to be an entrepreneur if you have this much trepidation. I would get a 9-5, build up your business on the weekends and evenings and over time it will take off.

This is a terrible arrangement and your parents arent EVER going to make this work. Youre being manipulated. You’d have more success on a crab boat in Alaska. Get rid of these two and go forge your future.

flyfightandgrinBtoEntrepreneur@indiehackers.space•Someone copied my product-I need a pep talkEnglish1·2 years agoWork on the branding and make the product an experience.
A porsche and a honda are both cars, right? But people pay more for the Porsche because of the experience.
I’m just saying even with an identical product, you can add better packaging, logo, and media coverage and people will pay more for the nicer wrapped package.
Visibility is king.

PR guy in San Diego, I would use FB as well and grow a legit audience.
Post about a piece of jewelry and share a great photo. When people comment, write down their names and respond with a question. This keeps the post alive and gets more people seeing it.
Share photos with music on FB stories, and do Lives 2x a week showcasing your jewelry. Also many people dont know about Nextdoor. Its a free app for your phone thats geographically segregated so posts are viewed by people nearby.

Next start with IG/Pinterest and TikTok. This should get people checking out your stuff. FB is for older people but I have found thousands of dollars from just talking to people and sharing photos on there.

First of all, I applaud you for this. I do PR in San Diego and help businesses get traction. Looking over your post, here is how I would do this:
- List out your services and a price. See what competitors are charging but dont let that be your key to pricing. Price according to how much effort you are putting in and the quality of your service. You can charge a premium and NOT be taking advantage of people. Youre literally saving them from a dangerous situation.
- Use the Nextdoor App and tell people about what you do. Take pics of your jobs and put them on social media. Start a FB business page with a cool logo and drive web traffi c to it.
- Carry a customer welcome kit. If my car broke down and the person came with bottled water, some granola bars and a business card, I would use them for life.
Let me know if you have questions, message me if you need any free guidance. Also join Vetpreneur Tribe, its a free group with 16k veterans that can help you.

The way to get more people in the door is a local celeb strategy. When clients hire me, I look at their business model and what I call the customer journey. How do you get more customers for your salon?Customer sees your social media, comes and visits.
Since you are a brick and mortar, IG, TikTok and Pinterest are going to be your friends. Install the Nextdoor App and start sharing posts about the salon with high end photos.
Make a “hit list” of 20 people in your area that use or are interested in your services and start tagging them.
Then get on the news and pitch a segment on the hottest hairstyles for 2023 (thank God the A Line and 2 tone hair is out).
If you have questions, fire away. Remember that business is about being POPULAR.

My lady sends me voice mails telling me shes proud of me for what I do. THAT is the support system you need.
flyfightandgrinBtoSmall Business@indiehackers.space•How effective is social media marketingEnglish1·2 years agoI am a pr and visibility guy. I completely tell clients to minimize ad spend and focus on PR. Here is why, get on the news, get more social media engagement and issue press releases and youll have steady traffic, sales and engagement.
Pr creates buzz and people will check out good content. Marketing wastes a LOT of ad dollars if you don’t have a skilled expert. I would review your social media, see your posts, and then match up your business niche with Reddit, Pinterest and business articles plus get you a few interviews on niche podcasts.

I do it on my own. Magazine owner and PR expert. I hire consultants for specialized things like graphic design or database building. Always hire for the stuff you dont have time to learn or the time to do.
