Hopefully it’s LT or CB.
LT is the clear top priority this off-season. By far. Stanley’s hurt again and even if he finishes this year, he hasn’t played to Pro Bowl Stanley in a while and will only continue getting more fragile. He’s not a total turnstile but he’s been beat waaaay too often for his massive contract. His cap hit goes up to 26m the next 2 years and he’s 1 of the highest paid LTs in the NFL despite being fairly mediocre to decent at best. He’s not an elite LT but is taking up the cap space of an elite franchise LT. Ideally Sala or Faalele can start but I’m not counting on it, and we need depth. Imo they’d rather sign an experienced LT than roll out an inexperienced rookie at LT, we’ve had good luck with vet OL so don’t be surprised if that’s what happens. But either way, we’re def drafting a LT this year.
CB is still a need, Pepe’s the best of the young corners and he’s missed most of this season injured. Marlon is still good but he’s been hurt a lot lately, corners are delicate and get hurt easily. CB isn’t as dire a need as it used to be since Darby’s here. Rock has overall been good. The star is unexpectedly Stephens, who honestly might deserve the starting CB2 job. He’s been awesome.
I’d say they take BPA, but are looking at LT and CB the most. We’ll get DL in rd2 or 3 and find a gem there like we did with Travis.
Down me all you want, at least our fanbase made an effort to apologize for its handful of drunk assholes.
Take a nice leisurely stroll through Sandtown-Winchester, Oliver/Berea or Brooklyn lol
In all seriousness though you should be fine. Every fanbase has its assholes, avoid any asshole fans and you’ll be fine. Most nfl fans are chill and just want to watch the game.
As for gameday:
Get to the stadium early. No shorter than an hour before the game, it’ll take time to go through ticket check and find seats, and it’ll be packed. Have tickets printed or on your phone, they use a scanner. Check the Ravens website for a list of stuff you can’t bring. If you’re Uber/Lyft-ing after the game, it’ll be crazy with traffic and surge pricing so it gets calmer around 30-40 mins after the game. Just walk around the stadium for a bit to kill time. There will be a big parade of people all walking out of the stadium after the game so you can follow the crowd if you get lost. They’ll end up downtown and then go to wherever they’re parked.
Check out the aquarium if you have time. It’s close by in the harbor and the jellyfish are pretty cool imo. The harbor has some cool historic ships and at night has kind of a cool pirates of the Caribbean vibe.
Hmu if you need help getting around always happy to help :)
Hamlin’s not even on the team and if the players themselves are voluntarily ok with taking the risk of playing a dangerous sport, I don’t think they’d care. Players usually like nicknames anyway.
NYC was in a recession in 1981 and they didn’t care when the Jets had the NY Sack Exchange defense nickname that year.
Steel Curtain during the height of the Cold War with the threat of nukes isn’t great optics either but no one cares about the name.
It’s a game. No one’s actually advocating for the death penalty, it’s a nickname. You could name the defense whatever you want, that still doesn’t minimize the optics or risk of injury, so objecting is pretty pointless.
You’re misunderstanding why I specified FGs. The point is that too many people are acting like Watson carved us up, a lot of that is everyone having low expectations of him and he also had 1 TD all game. 1 of those 4 FGs happened cuz they blocked ours and returned it to get in FG range right before the half, that’s a ST fuckup, not our defense’s and didn’t happen cuz the Browns offense made a great play. Hamilton had as many TDs as Watson. I think he exceeded expectations and his mobility was better than expected cuz he was dodging way too many tackles, but I don’t think Watson had a truly stellar game either.
I don’t disagree with that.
The point is more that we can’t constantly hope the defense saves this team, cuz that’s often how it’s been. We paid Lamar, overhauled the WR room, have a top 3 TE, got a new OC. This offense needs to be able to score for 4 quarters, and regardless of how elite the Browns defense is, the offense has been inconsistent all year. They’ve had games where they light it up and others where things aren’t clicking and we’re not scoring. I don’t expect the offense to dominate and blow out 1 of the NFL’s best defenses, but I do expect them to put up more than 2 TDs in 3 quarters combined and I expect Monken to be able to adjust when DCs adjust to him. Our strategy’s been getting a lead early on and hoping the defense can seal the win, and we need a consistent 4 quarters from the offense.
Defense should’ve been better, Browns offense isn’t that great. At the same time, fans gotta be realistic, elite defenses are human and will get tired if the offense is just 2 of 8 on 3rd downs. We have too many fans being dumb and saying “defense gave up 33” when half those points weren’t even from their offense. This is how playoff games are now, you need to be able to win shootouts. Our defense can give us a chance but it the offense stalls out after the first half that defense is gonna get tired and let them catch up.
We need Simpson in. Mekari will replace stanley but I’m not a fan of Cleveland starting. He’s been here for a while now and got beat by an older Simpson cuz Cleveland’s made zero development and tbh just seems lazy. If Oweh can go from an insanely raw project that got no sacks in college to looking like a legit rusher, there’s no excuse for Cleveland. He’s got the size but nothing else. At this point I’d honestly call Cleveland a bust cuz I don’t feel comfortable using him as a starter, Cleveland being trash is part of why we drafted Vorhees.
With 1 OL out, we’d just put Mekari in. Still a big loss, but this is why we have Mekari and tbh there’s moments where Mekari is an upgrade from Stanley. It’s having more than 1 OL out that causes the real hole in the OL, Simpson has been really solid here. Hopefully he’s in, I know he said he wants to be in tomorrow.
Losing to the browns isn’t good but oh my god y’all doomers need to stop. Here’s some facts y’all keep forgetting about:
Defense held the Browns to 17 points by the end of the 3rd, and held them to just 9 at the half.
Amari, Ford & Njoku never scored
Watson only had 1 TD and Hamilton picked him off within the first minute.
Tucker’s kick got blocked, that would’ve made it a 1 point game
OL penalty reversed a TD
Y’all forgot how the Browns actually got to 33 points: half of those were from FGs. Browns had to settle for 4 FGs.
Defense has been balling elite, frankly it’s the inconsistent offense you need to be criticizing. Blame the offense for being just 2/8 on 3rd downs this game. Blame Monken for not using Keaton. Defense has done its job all year. They should’ve done better, but let’s stop acting like this defense is now complete trash, it’s still an elite defense. Most of why the Browns won is from an inconsistent offense that struggled vs an equally good if not better defense.
Browns fans have such a delusional victim complex. Even before Watson, they’re always like “why does everyone hate us?”- we don’t hate you irrationally, we just don’t respect you as a franchise cuz y’all suck every year. “We had our team stolen” so have other teams but they’re not whining about it. Colts leaving was far worse than the browns moving with the way they did it, and Bmore won more SBs in 4 years than the browns ever have.
It’s cuz the browns are run by morons and have horrific owners. Their problems have always been self-inflicted.
Tough call honestly. Steelers are out historic top enemy and we hate them, y’all are the biggest threat in the division, and the browns have Cosby an insane contract. I gotta go with the browns, as much as I despise Ben he’s not on the team anymore and Watson is. That contract is insane for any player except maybe Mahomes, and Watson isn’t even good. I know they’re hyping him for a decent game vs us but he was still a bitch that didn’t want to play our defense and sat out that game, and he’s been awful in Cleveland. So yeah it’s Cleveland imo.
Lamar is like 7-1 as a starter vs the bengals and Burrow is 4-4 vs the ravens, and half his wins were when the Ravens didn’t have Lamar. Burrow is undeniably a top QB but it’s been a while since he’s beaten a healthy Ravens team.
Steelers fans always do this tbh
Cowboys yet again are WAAAAAY overrated. Good defense but Dak just has CD Lamb bailing him out constantly & they benefit from blowing out the giants twice a year.
Hello and welcome to our sub fellow bird bro :)
Lockett has always been a very consistent WR, but has been quiet about it. Kinda like how Mike Evans is remarkably consistent but isn’t considered elite on the same level as Jefferson and those guys. Lockett’s getting older but the talent is still there, the problem is Hawks’ OL has been incredibly injured all year and Geno has to get the ball out quickly. They’re also running Walker a lot more than people expected.
Lockett has always been one of the most underrated WRs that quietly puts up consistently good numbers. The issues this year with his fantasy stats have more to do with Seattle’s OL problems and the impact it has on their offense.
In terms of consistency yes. When it comes to achievements, no
