porter needs to be traded this off season if we dont win the chip. he just doesnt provide enough as the third max guy and it limits what we can do with our bench as well.
zeke has to be the worst player in the league. how can somebody try so hard and yet be so bad

nuggets basically have to trade to get anything worthwhile unless they can sign a guy to a 2 way.

isn’t braxton key on a 2 way? maybe we can waive him and huff and try to get somebody like demarcus cousins to sign a 2 way? idk if somebody like boogie would see it as being beneath him to be a 2 way guy but we could do with that kind of offense right now.

a reggie trade would be a mistake for the nuggets even if there was something available. as bad as reggie is at times, we have nobody to start as point guard if he’s moved. none of the rookies seem to be even be able to dribble the ball.
he has a player option for next yr so it’s probably we’ll probably get negative value for him in a trade anyway.
winning teams don’t have 33% of their roster made up of rookies and sophomores. this pre-season was a disaster class from booth.
just looking at the way 36 yr old ingles cooked while barely being able to move the other night should be proof enough of this.

you do need bench team leaders. ideal if he could play but he was not expected to. other good teams do the same with igoudala, haslem etc.

maybe he is learning and will become better but he is currently paid $40 million on a max rookie extension, something reserved for the very best that can elevate and carry a team. just look at the others in his salary range - ja, zion, darius garland, bane etc.
unfortunately even the most biased fan will admit porter’s production does not match that kind of salary right now. and his salary has meant our bench has to rely almost solely on rookies and minimum vet contracts. it doesn’t actually help that the one guy on the bench that we did pay this yr is probably the worst nba player in the league right now.
all of this means we are super reliant on jokic and murray to pretty much carry us during the season. no other good team is superstar reliant as our team is.
i can’t see how we can keep his contract for all the way through if all of these rookies don’t hit. if we win the chip this yr, reggie will get a 15 million-ish contract from somebody and holiday will also get more than the minimum he makes this yr. we need to pay both aaron gordon and kcp soon as well. we have kcp’s bird rights so i guess we can keep him but gordon will expect 30 million or so himself. i guess calvin booth is relying on all the rookies to make major leaps this yr, this is something i’m pretty pessimistic on.
