This is going to be super unpopular but Sam is like, C+, B- on the whole NFL scale right now. He’s fixed some flaws like holding on the ball too long but you can’t overcome being a 6’1 guy that only eats chicken fingers. He does a lot of things well, great arm talent, good processing speed for reading defenses (sometimes), but he’s far from untouchable. I don’t think he will ever be top 5 in the league.

That said, he’s shown great progress. If he can learn to read protections and we get a better OL he will be a franchise QB.

Agreed, I don’t know if he’s even top 5 at his position and 2 guys who are (Derwin James and Justin Simmons) are making about 18 AAV and 16 AAV respectively. I see Kam as a 13-14M AAV guy… that’s still a LOT of money and cap, so if that’s not enough for him then so be it. That said, I’d love to have him back

Honestly Chase kind of seems like a guy with a big ego that would have demanded 20-25M and not deserving it at all. You have to consider that he wasn’t under contract. Among the 4 DL, I would keep Allen and Payne 10 times out of 10.
