And if he rushed his throws and threw more picks he’d be dragged for that. It’s a catch-22 for him at this point. It is what it is.
I’m impressed by his mental toughness. If he makes it through this season and not become “Darnold 2.0” I’ll be even more impressed.
Honestly, this is the best medicine at this point. As a matter of fact, can the name of r/panthers be changed to r/panthersmemes? Temporarily? OK, for a couple of years?
On a tangential note, I watched a little bit of the Cincy v Ravens game last night. Their receiving talent and offensive line play makes it look like they’re from Krypton compared to the Panthers. It’s almost like watching a different game. Yikes.
Honestly, they are on their second “Aw shucks, c’mon guys, let’s go” type of head coaches (one proven more competent on the NFL level than the other). The “come up for air” moment was Wilks. This is a highly intensive contact sport that is basically simulated combat. This team lacks the mean streak that is necessary to compete on a consistent basis. Some teams have it more than others, but all competitive teams have one.
In response those who suggest this is insignificant because most of the passes are short(ish), I’ve seen him thread needles on even some of those short to mid passes that caused me to go, “Oh, wow.” This seemingly insane accuracy is not just the product of a bunch of short passes.
Exactly. He’s suffered very little adversity in his entire football career, certainly not on this stage and at this level (#1 overall pick on an NFL team).
And for the record, I believe all of the analysis should be seen, heard, and weighed accordingly. No censoring. Both sides of this debate need to be willing to hear and legitimately consider all perspectives. In other words, we need to stop the cherry picking (both sides). It is a logical fallacy.
Why are you typing in ignorance of what I’ve actually said about Bryce? Hmm…
This is now, hitherto and henceforth, THE flagship film analysis evidence that Bryce is a bum. One need not look any further, especially not at any other analysis by any other former players with expertise. They are disqualified (for some reason). Carry on, Panther faithfuls.

I’m also hoping that is the case, but I don’t think it’s a stretch. I consider what of his demeanor I’ve see thus far (particularly through these struggles), combined with his upbringing (particularly the huge role I’m certain his father has played, even as a counselor and consultant). That has the great potential of developing a mentally resilient individual.

A-to-the-men.
Baseline talent, yes. Their current performance is definitely not interchangeable, though both are subject to their team environment. My conviction is that the sample size is still too small to say that Stroud is gold and Bryce is trash (skill/talent-wise), or any variation in between. It may pan out that way, but I’m not prepared to make that determination based on what they are both producing in their unique situations.
I guess one tangential question looming in my mind is this: What did Bryce to do many of the people in this sub? Honestly. And I think it’s hyperbolic to say that anyone not prepared to call Bryce a mistake is never willing to criticize him. He has handled this situation extremely poorly. I readily level that charge. If he never figures it out or comes out the other end as Ryan Leaf 2.0, then he will be one of the all-time epic busts in NFL history.
As I look at this I’ve also been reminded of the 1983 draft. Elway, Kelly, and Marino were the notable QB’s picked (in that order, though not consecutively). Marino tore it up his rookie seasaon, but never won a title. Elway eventually did. Why we are so certain about the outcome of this situation baffles me, but to each their own. I’m just trying to present my civil contribution to the conversation.
I’m honestly not mad at this plan at all. u/GreenvilleLocal for G.M. Stat!
Exactly. Except, Stroud would’ve been that one QB away, though…jk.
That is a serious fear of mines as well, but Bryce may have the fortitude to overcome attempts at doing so. We’ll see.
Honestly, Bryce strikes me as a young man with a resilient mind. We cannot forget who his father is and what he does (along with another factor that most here may not appreciate). We will certainly find out probably as soon as next season. I wanted to point this out because if I’m correct, this will definitely not be a wasted season for Bryce. He’ll learn a lot, if even how to handle adversity in the pocket, in the film room, and behind the podium.
No need to hate someone with a dumb take. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I would be stoked for Greg as GM as long as he was coupled with a great capologist.
