  • While paladins and overwatch are different game, it is counterable in paladins. If someone keeps hard peaking a corner then you can attempt to flank and get the drop on them. There’s still like a half second delay and the reaction time of being shot at from a spot you weren’t expecting. Paladins benefits from the ability of having a designated flank class but you can still get someone who’s hard focusing one direction.

  • I wasn’t there for OW1 but why wouldn’t you just patch tracer so she doesn’t do that?

I know people hate to hear this game mentioned but Paladins allows you to auto cancel emotes but you have to standup in a default stance before you can go into an ability. So it would take like half a second or so to actually cancel the animation and get to using abilities or shooting.

  • 15-20 hours is still insane. I’m a college student taking 18 credits hours, working two jobs and a club sport, I get maybe 7-9 hours to game per week and I don’t spend it all on Overwatch. It took me 2 weeks to get Illari cause I really wanted her (I didn’t care about LW or Ram when they first came out and didn’t even complete it.)

20 hours is an insane amount of time to grind out for a character especially compared to other hero shooter games. In paladins you can get a brand new champ easily. You can spend free in game currency and unlock them in seconds. If you play the game enough then you have an over abundance of this currency. If you’re brand new and want the new character then you can grind for the in game currency in like maybe 3 hours. And say you somehow don’t want to wait you can buy the character with money for like a third of the price Overwatch has you pay. Even in TF2 they let you grind out the new items in their final update faster than you could in OW2.

OW’s monetary system is hugely predatory and it’s bad for F2P players. They make it a 15-20 hour grind to get people who want to play as the new character to say “fuck it” and pay for the entire battle pass. Because you can’t buy the characters individually, you have to pay for the entire thing. All the while you have the F2P player sitting in each game while they grind and get to see other people having fun with the new champ. It’s predatory and fucked up but I guess you don’t become a billion dollar company by being nice to your consumers.

  • The problem with new heroes isn’t the challenges, it’s the battle pass. When a brand new character comes out they’re only unlock-able through the battle pass. You can either unlock the character immediately by paying for the battle pass or you get them as a free reward at like level 70. You have to grind that thing for days unless you pay. All the while you see them in every game with other people having fun as them to try and manipulate you into buying the battle pass. There aren’t challenges to unlock them until after the season is over.

  • The issue is that it’s so luck based. It can be really hard to go up against an enemy team that got a god like roster and your team keeps getting shit characters. And there’s nothing you can really do but keep killing yourself till you get a good comp. You can be better and not have a good team and get rolled.

It’s fun but you just have to accept that sometimes you’ll be unlucky and get shit stomped by better team comps rather than skill.

  • You need to hurt the supports so the damages and tank mains have fun again but you don’t want to slaughter the supports so they don’t have fun. Realistically this is a small step for making supports not as strong and the team has already said that they plan on addressing supports again during the midseason patch with the hog changes.

So they’ve made some small adjustments, they’ll see if the changes went the way they wanted or if they need to go harsher or in a different direction entirely.
