This can happen in Swiss. If BLG makes it to the finals and beats T1 3-2, they would have an overall losing record of 3-4.

The way Valorant and Dota community views double elim as seeding most importantly. The players and rest of the community sees it all differently. If Swiss and group stage is seeding teams for top 8, then double elim is seeding for the top 2.

Maybe make the entire lower bracket bo5 and upper bracket bo3 which would help the UB team have longer prep and strat. You can see how JDG completely nullifide BLG when they played like 6 bo5s in 2 weeks.

The bottom line is that swiss is seeding to get top 8 teams. Double elim is seeding to get top 2.

If Dota became big in Korea. In LoL, the Korean league is the most popular globally and they do crazy amount of effort to make their product accessible to the West.

DRX’s storyline would be even better if they won from upper bracket. Winning 4 bo5 is more impressive than 3. Especially if they ended up facing DK. That means they might have beaten all the higher LCK seeds.

There’s just not enough bo3/bo5. JDG and GENG were the two tournament favorites coming in and one played just 1 bo3 & 1 bo5 before going home. JDG was the most fun team to watch for me and they literally only played 3 series before getting knocked out. And now their roster might not even stick around. At Valorant, Fnatic finished 4th and they ended up playing 6 bo3s before going home.

It’s been 6 months since the previous international tournament and all we’ve seen is crumbs size amount of games. And Worlds is supposed to be the biggest tournament.

Sorry, I will ALWAYS prefer double elim. Competition aside, players can negotiate for a better salary finishing 2nd instead of finishing 8th.

This is why you should NEVER run a tournament with 7 bo5s in a span of 3 weeks. Practice becomes inefficient and there’s not enough games to get your reps in. Worlds scheduling is just not worth it and comes with so much BS with it. MSI did it right by doing their playoffs in 2 weeks.
