I really see nothing in this team that makes me thing we can compete in the next 5 or so years. Awful ownership, decade of terrible drafting, awful FA contracts. Other than maybe the Browns with Watsons contract do you guys think our outlook is the worst?

I would have said “no” a couple years ago.
But the JMD era (alongside Mark’s absolute hair brain comments every time he opens his mouth) makes me start to believe that we won’t do anything unless Mark:

Falls ass backwards into a good coach and/or GM and keeps them

Sells the team.
He’s a bad owner. Period.
Hopefully Tom Brady is the voice that Mark’s circle of trust needs.
I dont think Brady actually cares, he bought ownership to a team that will always sell out expensive tickers because people want to see their favorite team beat us. Win or lose were kinda guaranteed to be a valuable franchise it just sucks for the fans

If we beat Detroit, we’re 4-4 with a pretty mediocre QB room (& I like JimmyG). It’s not that bad.
I dont think we have a bleak future, I just think we have a completely unknowable future
Like…we arent in cap hell, we havent traded away a bunch of our high picks in the next few years, and everyone knows we’re going to get a new HC by the start of next season at this rate. We’re just going to be starting with a complete clean slate. That could be bad, it could be good too. With a good coaching choice, a positive draft, and find the right answer at QB, there is a future where the team is back on its feet pretty quickly.
There’s just no way to predict what our trajectory will end up being after this year
The broncos have a dead end QB that’s currently shitting the bed for the past 24 games on contract for like 3 more years and 104 million guaranteed…AND they have given up a total of 3 1st round draft picks for him (including Noah fant), and are currently wasting their other 1st round WR’s talent as well as spinning the clock on the time that they’ll have any of their current good defenders on the team…
At least we have our draftees and future picks and KNOW that we need to and are able to replace our QB with relatively low cap impact…just need to find a coach.

Honestly, we can’t say until we’re rid of McDaniels. Our fortune could literally flip with a great coaching hire…like a soon to be escaping the fire he created college coach in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Not even the most bleak future in the division: A) the Chargers are going to Charger, this is going to be truth until they no longer Charger B) the Broncos have the Russell Wilson albatross contract to navigate
look at it this way now you’re not glued to the tv on sundays. you can get things done. and if we start winning then that’s a plus and we can jump right back in. but for now having the game update on my phone while i do yard work or go out for food is just fine.
