  • Carr is an annoying QB to watch because he seems like he should be a lot better because of his arm and 40 time, but he plays like a dumbass at times. He also throws the ball away to avoid having a much worse INT # than he would have had he actually taken more chances (which based on his poor ability to read the field would have likely led to more turnovers in his career…), which actually makes things annoying in 2 ways. 1. He tricks people into thinking his #s are better than they should be. 2. He is risk averse which annoys people who see guys wide open or when he’s throwing the ball away on, checks notes, 4th down.

I think that All-Pro offensive line earlier in his career gave the fans false hope. I used to believe the injury made him gun shy, but even his draft profile said he has anxiety issues and can’t handle pressure well, so it’s hard to say if that injury is the reason he fell apart or not having All-Pros giving him an atypical amount of time to throw the ball. Gruden masked a lot of his flaws with his WCO allowing for short passes with YAC. Probably how he made Brad Johnson look good for a year. I don’t think Carr was ever great and having those expectations is why this fanbase had Carr wars going on. He’s Andy Dalton with a better arm.

Saints fans have no goodwill towards him because he wasn’t drafted by them. They had one of the best QBs in NFL history playing for them just a few short years ago, while this franchise hasn’t had a good QB play since Gannon. Also, considering they were 7-9/10 with the likes of Dalton, Winston, and Hill I’m sure they’re really upset they’re stuck with Carr with an enormous salary to produce the same thing.

  • It’s probably the Chargers. The Patriots had a top defense for a few years after Brady left, but it’s mediocre now. The average defensive ranking Brady had with the Patriots was 9th overall, the best out of the recent generation of HoF QBs. Mac Jones first year, Patriots were ranked 2nd in points given up. They’ve lost the most 1 possession games this year, but they have the worst QB in the league with the worst receiving corp that’s not going to save them at the end of games. Belichick was never good at drafting skill position players and no longer has Brady and the best OL coach Dante Scarnecchia to mask that flaw. He’s good at getting low round slot guys who fit the system and develop like Welker, Emendola, and Meyers, but he can’t draft receivers who don’t fit that mold worth a salt. I think he’d be fine with the Chargers since they already have a QB and some good offensive players. They really need someone to bring discipline and improve the defense, which I think he can do. I still don’t think that will make them SB contenders unless they get someone else to be the GM.

  • I will say that /r/Saints sub isn’t as delusional for a several reasons. There are definitely some crazies like you mentioned, but nowhere close to how bad it is here.

    1. He wasn’t drafted there so there isn’t that much “home grown” love.

    2. Lack of Fresno alumni fans (many of them happened to be Raiders fan due to proximity to Oakland who love him to death)

    3. They don’t have a “great year” with Carr that the fanbase is fixated with

    4. They actually have recent memory of what a HoF QB is supposed to play like

    5. They already saw how a middling QB plays with Dalton last year and have a reference point of what average QB play is like so they don’t get easily enthralled with it unlike Raiders fans who have seen trash for nearly 20 years

Crazy how the Patriots get a guy like this as an undrafted FA. Fits the prototypical, low round, undrafted hidden gem slot receiver type player that the Patriots have used so well like Welker and Edelman and then Belichick signs washed up JuJu over this guy for the same price. He’s making those Al Davis near the end of his career moves nowadays.

  • I wanted them to draft a high round rookie and try to compete or keep Stidham/draft a mid round rookie and tank for one year after cutting Carr, along with trading Adams in the latter situation. People will hate me for saying this, especially “tanking”, but I wanted to do either of those. I think we would have built up a stockpile of good picks and Crosby/Miller are still young if they “tanked”. There were still a few good young guys with potential on defense, who could develop even more. High risk, high reward type of play because I was tired of seeing a mediocre team with a decent, but not great QB going nowhere most years.

When the Jimmy G signing was made, I was like fuck. My main concern was his inability to stay on the field meaning we’d be getting a guy who “saves” money but doesn’t really provide much value due to not being on the field half the time and he’s an inferior QB to what we already had. I didn’t even except this bad of a situation where he’d look like complete and utter shit, so my already low expectations weren’t even met.

I’m hoping Jimmy gets dinged up

You don’t even have to hope for that…

  • It’s number 3. I saw a video where Hunter talked about how he was struggling under Gruden and he decided to start doing his own thing even though Gruden wasn’t happy initially. It worked out in the end. McD probably doesn’t want this at all, assuming Hunter isn’t struggling in some other way with this offense or with his production. Jimmy’s lack of vision isn’t helping and since Myers has taken over the #2 spot, there are less opportunities for Renfrow.

I’m sorry but the other reasons seem ridiculous and I’m guessing this was partly sarcastic.
