Genuinely curious as many folks are calling for Belichick to leave or be replaced. A large part of the historical success of Belichick in NE has been around the significant coaching and personnel infrastructure he’s developed over the past 20 years. He also seems only to want to work with those he trusts and has worked with in the past(which why familiar faces like BoB, Patricia, McDaniels, and others are always hanging around in some capacity or another).

So what happens if Belichick leaves (or is fired) and ends up coaching elsewhere? How much of the existing coaching staff in NE leaves to work with Belichick elsewhere? Does Jerod Mayo stick around or leave for head coaching opportunities elsewhere? Do we lose all the coaching talent on defense (i.e. Belichick’s kids)?

Most of the great coaches and personnel Guys he had around him for that 20 year run have already retired or gone elsewhere, but yes I do think if he leaves most of the current coaches leave as well.

I mean, it will most likely be up to the new coach, who he would like to keep(if they want to stay) or who he would like to bring in from their own circle.

It depends on who the next HC is?

If Mayo were the HC I could see him retaining BOB and Steve. If Vrabel were the HC, I think Steve is less likely.

If Bill goes somewhere else Steve could go with him.

I think it unlikely Mayo or BOB go with Bill anywhere.

If there is a new HC, they will fire everyone on the staff and bring in there guys. It’s what happens in every sport.

I want everyone gone. The entire coaching staff needs to be sent to the moon. I don’t want Bill’s kids here, Bill’s friends’ kids, or even Mayo. Clean house completely because none of it is working anymore.

What most people are forgetting here is that when Bill is gone, we also need a GENERAL MANAGER.

The GM will likely have a huge say in our next coaching staff. So any speculation is going to be wildly inaccurate.

    A rebuild starts top down.

Here is a better question to ask….

If Bill leaves the organization, what coaches or personnel people do you WANT to stay?

I think this depends on who his replacement is. If Kraft hires Brian Flores or Mayo there’s a familiarity that might entice some coaches to stay. Assumption is McDaniels follows Belichick as OC so O’Brien probably stays in that scenario. If the GM is Adam Peters that’s also a familiar face that might keep scouts around. If it’s an outside hire like Ben Johnson a lot of people are probably gone anyway.

Yeah, it’ll be a whole new staff, I’d guess. Not a big deal, honestly. His current staff is kinda trash anyway.

If Belichick leaves/retires/gets fired, the new coach will bring in his guys to coach, it’s what happens so it’s safe to say that everyone on the coaching staff is gone if Belichick is gone.

It usually happens that when there is a coaching change at the top, the guys lower in the hierarchy are were “his guys” so they end up leaving or getting fired. Especially since Bill is in effect GM.

I believe Mayo recently signed a large contract and rejected a head coaching job somewhere else a year or two ago. Him and Steve have been putting out consistently good defenses with strong scheming so I think they’re both safe. I’d guess Mayo is the next in line for HC.

BOB just got here and hasn’t really had time to get the offense rolling and has had a very poor offensive roster to work with. I could see him leaving but I think he’ll probably be kept.

The offensive line has been terrible and I think Klemm has a pretty big role in that, the talent level is also extremely low so I could see them giving him a pass.

Like someone previously mentioned, most of the dynasty coaches are already somewhere else or retired. I don’t see any huge changes if Bill is traded, dropped or retired. My hope is that they keep him as HC and find a more offensive minded coach to handle GM responsibilities
