Never made any sense to me. He’s just an oversized WR that can’t block for shit.
For the team the Patriots were trying to put together for 2023, he made absolutely no sense.
I only think he’s here cause BOB recruited him at Penn.

Lazar is great. Best beat guy covering the Pats.
I don’t think there’s really anyone defending Mac anymore. We can recognize that Mac isnt going to be a long-term starter and also accept that he’s their only option to finish out the year.
For my part, I’m mostly concerned about the Patriots repeating the mistakes they made with Mac with the next QB.
The Patriots had to move on from Folk at some point and he wouldn’t make any difference on this team.
In terms of questionable off-season moves, Folk/Ryland is very far down the list.
Bruh, they’re 2-9. No one gives a fuck who’s starting at this point.
Lots of people do. He is considered an option for the Patriots.
More than Mac not being good, I think the offense has just entirely quit.
I don’t agree.
BoB has talked a lot about wanting to “play in the structure” of the offense.
You can’t game plan around school yard shit and it represents a much smaller percentage of throws than people realize.
Sure. But that’s never been who Mac is. You can’t expect it of him.
The arm strength thing with Mac is way overblown, especially this season when his mechanics have been terrible.
When Mac has good mechanics is arm strength is fine. He’s not Herbert, but he can make the throws. He’s certainly rifled enough passes.
His arm strength looks especially bad this year because he’s falling back and throwing off his back foot all the time. But that’s a mechanics issue, not a strength issue.
I think it extremely unlikely Bill is ever “fired.”
At worst, I think some sort of mutual parting of ways.
But I still think Bill gets anothrr shot.
I would have him after Maye, Williams, and Daniels.
No one likes you Boston Globe. Go away.
Tell John Henry to stop being a cheap asshole.
See, I suspect Mac does really well in practice. When he doesn’t have to worry about a pass rush, I’m sure he’s fine. So he’ll look good all week, get the nod, then it’s…you know …shitty.
I’d be ecstatic if we finished 8-9 because more than the QBs, it would require the rest of the team turning into All-Pros, which would be nice for the future.
Tyquan would need to you know…get snaps, and then have like 200 yard games. Rhamondre would be breaking off 150 every game. Anfernee Jennings would need to end the season with 10+ sacks.
It’s so weird to me that people get on this kid for crying to his mom.
I can understand issues with his dad, the ownership stuff, refusing to talk to media.
But being pissy that a 22 yo kid is sad his college career is effectively over is weird.
If we miss out on Maye or Williams, it’s Daniels all the way.
If they finish without a top 3 pick and Bill is still here, I could see them trading down.
They can’t trade out of a top 3 pick though. Kraft wouldn’t allow it. The fans would revolt.
All these people that suggest a new GM…I want to know who.
Start dropping names of the guy that’s going to come in and start making roster decisions that Bill is just going to nod along to and accept having seniority over him.
That shit is just never going to happen.
Bill has won 6 SBs. I think he can reasonably argue he deserves more than 1 chance at a rebuild. I think he’s earned that.
The defense is still playing well, despite injuries.
Right now the Patriots are 2-9, with 6 losses in 1 score games. I’m not saying I believe it, but it’s a reasonable argument to suggest that with a better offense the Patriots could be 8-3.
