If you still have optimism for this team and franchise, I want some of what you’re having. This is rock bottom for the Pistons organization. No other way to spin it.

Have there been worse Pistons teams? Absolutely. But what makes this rock bottom is that we build this roster for years–and it’s clear we’re worse than when we started. We waste years of our fandom with the idea that there’s hope on the other side. We sit there through every loss, but still have faith in our franchise to turn it around “after a couple more draft picks” or “when they finally develop”.

But we’re on the other side now, and there’s no pot of gold.

Bogey, Monte and Duren coming back aren’t going to turn this ship around. We are the worst team in the NBA and it’s not even close. The talent sucks. The coaching sucks. This team just fucking sucks.

Every Troy stan, open your eyes. You worship a man who has made us worse.

Weaver kicking the can down the road and the wiseman trade have been two of the worst gm decisions of the past few years. Being afraid of content with a 17 win team was not optimal for anybody.

When fans stop caring about the team is when they reach rock bottom. We’re almost there

The silver lining is this: This squad is under achieving.

Bojan and Joe Harris are injured. Those are two cats who can shoot and score.

Those are likely the two best scorers on the squad right now, and neither has played a single game this season.

    Duren has also missed times.

Ivey, Cade, Duren, Thompson, and Beef Stew comprise a VERY talented core of young talent all under the age of 23.

This is a team that can improve without adding talent simply through player development.

Coupled with that core, we have scoring vets in Bojan and Harris.

And Monty is familiarizing himself with the talent.

I get that this start has been frustrating because I frankly saw this team as being talented enough (and I still believe this) to make the playoffs.

Injuries have hampered the start, yes, but they shouldn’t have hampered them THIS badly.

    That’s true.

So if all of these excuses didn’t exist, what do you see as our ceiling? Because what is happening on the court is so bad I don’t know how you can think someone like Joe Harris is what can help us.

        It’s hard to say.

Last year, Ivery and Duren looked promising. Ivey looks less so this year, but that seems to be in part due to rotations and the fact that, when he is on the court, there are no shooters spreading the floor.

Joe Harris and Bojan would be great to have out there because they would both spread the floor. You don’t need them to score 20ppg; you just need them to be legit threats from the arc.

Detroit doesn’t have that when Monty has Cade and Hayes starting. My god… how easy is it to defend that guard combo.

The other thing is Cade: Can he develop a reliable 3pt shot. If that happens, and Duren fulfill the promise they showed last year, this is a core that can content.

Or it could turn out to be something akin to what the Wiz had with Wall, Beal, and Porter. A playoff team that gets easily bounced.

But yeah… this start is atrocious.

When you hit rock bottom, there’s only one place to go from there: Up.
