I do not blame people for not wanting to play it, you have to do so much for the team to create space, and have to be one of the first to swap off if your being countered, because if your useless your team will lose, full stop.
Meaning, you really can’t just play who you want to play most of the time, the decision on who you can play is dictated by the enemy team.
I don’t know how it can get better without weakening the power of counter picking, but man its a drain.
You are wrong.
Me playing support: running around vibing and becoming plat 1
Me playing tank: hardcore shit doing my best think of everything and can’t go up from silver 3
I was just trolling with Doomfist and get diamond 3 easy lol.
But support is pain in ass, you cant do anything, you depend on your team and cant carry. There is no good support who can carry lol.
Moiry get you to gold and that all lol.
Tank is the most fun role for me and I’m on plat 1
I am not surprised. I saw that coming from a mile when they announced that one tank would be dropped. It is just too much responsibility for one person, and it is uncool for one trick ponies as the meta shifts to different heroes all the time. Also, the awesome synergies between tanks are gone.
I miss 6v6 because you can have a main tank and the other be whatever. You only need 1 shield and your team is fine. The other tank can just flank or be another shield do double shield meta(yeah it was a nightmare but there are ways) and then there’s the double dive. No support is safe from a dva and Winston diving
Also, all the takes that “it sucks that the tank is blamed for losses” ignore the fact that this is often true. So many games are lost because people don’t understand what a tank does, or don’t bother to learn their hero’s kit. Dvas who stand back and don’t press W, Sigmas who don’t learn how to manage shield, Hammonds that just stand in front of the team and shoot before rolling into junkrat trap over and over. If you play tank without understanding how to play your hero, or without understanding that the role isn’t just “big guy should kill more things” your team is going to lose, and get killed, full stop.
Some neutral mechanism to serve the original 2nd tank role might be needed for everyone, including the main tank.
Something like neutral covers which we already can rely on now, but more than that. The tank role should still be there to “help” create space but no longer 100% to be relied on.
The pressure on one single tank is no joke now, definitely not only being doubled.
