Defense is a huge issue but the turnovers is causing the most pain, as they have seriously ramped up after Goffs streak ended.

Want to know why the abysmal Steelers offense still has a 6-4 record? Their differential is +11(#1)… Tied for 3rd most takeaways and tied for 1st fewest in turnovers.

Teams like the Pats, Cardinals, Panthers, Giants and Packers do a better job of protecting the ball than us which is crazy.

Takeaways? We don’t get many (bottom 7) our line doesn’t pressure enough to cause poor throws. Our defensive scheme allows too many easy passes in the middle. We should however be getting more fumbles as we are some of the best at getting tackles for loss on RBs…

Hope this changes

Tied with the Chiefs, Browns, Miami, and Tennessee.

You can dive a bit more into it. Fumbles (both give and take) are more random than INTs (both give and take). Although there’s still a bunch of variance.

Which is a long way of saying that this major factor in football games (Teams that are +3 TO differential win 90% of their games) is more random than not.

Even if they don’t generate any turnovers, what if we, hear me out now, didn’t turn the ball over too?

It’s an issue for both sides. Right now they’ve been turning it over too much

And it’s not being balanced out by turnovers from the defense

Obviously both sides of it are issues but the real catalyst for our turnaround last year was that we started generating more takeaways on D and that was largely caused by pressure on the QB. we’ve had bursts of pressure/sacks this year but haven’t had any kind of consistency. People are containing hutch and that’d really all we have

There is definitely an issue going on with our defense and how guys are being used.

I think Hutch is playing hurt. Ever since he took that hit too the thigh early on in the season they have not been dropping him back into coverage. All he’s been doing is rushing the QB.

They are just no disguising players anymore on D. Everyone is seemingly playing very vanilla roles out there and not gambling which seems odd since all we do is gamble on offense.

Our safeties are mostly playing cover 3 and our LBs are focusing more on trying to stop the run and rarely blitz or try to confuse opposing Qbs on whether they are going to rush, stop the run, or play the pass. They are play really soft right now.

And while we have run some trick plays on offense, our deep passing game is almost non-existent and its become more of a gimmick when we do throw deep.
