Trading away his best OL and not resigning his left guard.
This is the only part I kinda have to disagree with; they did it because of Onwenu, who has played well enough to justify the move.
Once again, the order of events is:
They have no capable OTs signed for 2024 ATM.
I mostly agree. That said, as I posted a couple of days ago, FA comes between the combine and the draft. The Pats, knowing where they’ll be slotted, should prioritize finding a capable player at QB, WR, and OT in free agency so they can just take BPA in the draft, or trade down if a great opportunity presents itself (e.g., picking up a first in 2025 + still getting one of the top 6 on offense).
The more relevant point here is that owners have to approve trades.
we can easily sign Kirk Cousins from Minnesota
Easily is doing quite a bit of work in that sentence.
The one thought I have: if the Pats want to show they’re serious about winning (even if they are tanking), they need to fire Cam Achord.
A quick note:
10/11 from 20 to 29 yards out
7/10 from 30 to 39
2/4 from 40 to 49
1/1 from 50+
That was Gostkowski’s rookie year, in the regular season.
Ryland’s going to get another chance, but I expect that another kicker will be brought in as competition.
To be fair, they haven’t tried all that hard, either. In the last decade, Belichick has spent exactly six picks in the first three rounds (out of 33 total) on offensive skill players: 2 RBs (Michel and Harris), 2 WRs (Harry and Thornton), and 2 TEs (Asiasi and Keene). He’s spent 3 on QBs and 5 on OL.
And for those saying they should’ve drafted Lamar Jackson, (1) he did not want to switch to RB, and (2) imagine how Brady would’ve felt if they spent that 1st on his replacement.
I have said this multiple times: Brady and Belichick were a synergy. Given what Belichick did in CLE before Modell pulled the rug out from under him, and given what Brady did in Tampa Bay, I’m about 95% certain each of them would’ve gotten at least one trip to the Super Bowl between 2000 and 2018 without the other. But they would not have 9 between them as they did together.
promoting his sons.
Can someone please explain to me what his sons have done wrong other than be his sons?
A trade in the division to go from 3 to 10 and you don’t get an extra first, when Miami got two to go from 3 to 12?
F– would be generous.
I have a college classmate who is a JEST fan but lives in the Boston area.
He went to yesterday’s game and saw the Fail Mary in person. That was his first in-person game since Thanksgiving 2012.
Sorry. My bad.
By all accounts, the problematic aspect is not the input he’s receiving but the final decision making.
Not acknowledging that Purdy has a much better offense around him is also silly.
About tree fitty.
An example: the Patriots were a top 3 team on play action pass effectiveness last year. But they used it less than almost any other team—except for Zappe’s games.
