I mean, I’m happy he got the buff, he desperately needed it, but over the past ~year or so Riot has only been investing time and effort into fixing things that have enough public outcry to warrant attention.
Ryze mains stage a mass inting spree? Buffed after two years of stagnation. Syndra mains send in death threats over a skin? Skin gets fixed. Vel’Koz mains do the same over their champion’s state? An ability gets work done two patches later.
The problem is that all of these are a vocal minority, most people didn’t see any Ryze mains TPing into fountain and most Syndra players were just kind of quietly disappointed with the skin. However, Riot is putting its designers under more stress than they have to by only responding to the most vocal players and public outcry.
Most Corki mains have shut up for four seasons now, most Zeri players haven’t been sending in death threats, and basically all of the Yorick players have been too busy sobbing in the corner to do anything rash. I honestly think that these champions would have more resources and attention allotted to them if their players were bigger assholes because that’s apparently what works now, and that’s a horrible precedent to set.
Recently, Shen mains are worried that their champion is becoming an ult bot and his power is shifting out of lane, where it has historically lied. Guess when Riot’s going to give their champion some love. Whole thing makes me exhausted for Riot’s gameplay designers.
Riot caving in is definitely a bad precedent to set. Just teaches people to complain more, although it’s nice that they’re trying to fix problems people complain about.
That’s what happens when Riot as a company put their employees out there on personal social accounts to be more “relatable”.
Sadly you are right, subs who are quiet or not cry really loud don’t getting any real attention, while Sera/Syndra mains who literally sent death threat managed to got skin changes.(rip Yorick’s hat).
I mean it’s the same kinda thing as inting really
People know that certain things won’t change if they flame and that they will be punished if they use it, so they go the route that is the most effective with the least risk of punishment. And it has been shown as the tried and true best method of achieving the goal of throwing the game with 0 punishment, so people will just do that.
Once players find a strategy that gets them what they want with as little punishment as possible, they’ll always use that. So if Velkoz and Syndra mains are sending death threats and it’s resulting in good balance changes, that sets a hugely negative precedent for the company. Same thing as to why everyone is flaming the fuck out of Riot for the ping and chat changes over the last year, because they’re not going after the main problem and letting this strategy just lie. Instead of Riot just ignoring these people and focus on what matters, Riot always just focuses on loud minority instead of looking at the main people who need to have the spotlight put on them. They always focus on the wrong group of people when it comes to their changes.
Yes that is a huge issue unfortunately.
Basically whoever complains the most will get the most changes. Doesn’t matter if your champ is weak or strong. Velkoz mains had to deal with this outdated champion for so long yet Riot only decided to change it after people finally called it out.
ADC players complained about their role being weak earlier this year when it was clearly pretty strong yet Riot buffed it again.
Like they want to silence complains rather than fix the game. And the problem with that is most complaints are just braindead biased ones.
I whole heartedly agree. I made a meme post recently trying to show how silly this all is(the “I’m a brand main and I’m mad” post) and it got taken down a couple hours later lol.
I guess they’ll reap what they sow. shrug
Where the Shyvanna mains at?
I feel like Shen mains have one of the greatest ults in the game. Is that not what you play Shen for? What does TP bot mean if that’s the appeal of the champion is to play around his R + Stun? He doesn’t need to be the best at everything it’s like they see K’sante and say “Shen should be just like YOU!” ‘Difficult champions’ are being buffed to be made easier and it’s lowering the skill it takes to play them.
