  • I am so sick of people who say this crap, because every. single. game. that does this dies out.

There’s a reason games like Smash are still in play and are popular to this day as an entire game series, because they appeal to casuals FIRST while giving competitive aspects to the game that are enjoyable. Smash is designed to be played with your friends, playing a bunch of different unique maps, throwing items at each other like pokeballs, picking your favorite characters, and just having a good time. On the flip side, they also introduced things like Battlefield and Omega stages for each map, allowed you to turn items off, allowed you to use stocks or time, etc. These rules allow for both competitive and casuals to play.

This is the exact reason why most fighting games die out, and that’s coming from a fighting game player. Because there isn’t a casual focus ever in fighting games so when people try to play it without devoting their time to it, it just dies out. And all you have left is the small minority of hyper competitive players.

League has so many opportunities to draw in a wide variety of people and they choose to just stick with competitive. We should have rotating games every week like OFA, Nexus Blitz, URF, etc. We should have community tools to make our own gamemodes like SC2 arcade. We should have PVE content that we can engage with to fully utilize our character’s kits instead of relying solely on PVP, similar to what people were looking forward to in OW2. We should have tons of new content coming out on a fast pace, this is not a hard game to make content for. It’s not like it’s graphically intensive or incredibly complex to a point you can’t make simple stuff.

  • Rabadon’s Deathcap is a terrible item for mages and shouldn’t exist

The problem with it is it is a GLOBAL item, meaning every single ability power item in the game revolves around this item and is affected by this item. This means that every AP item in the game has to be balanced and designed around this item, meaning they have to be worse items to justify rabadon’s and to prevent that item with rabadon’s from being too overpowered and giving too much stats.

Remove this garbage design and make every AP item better overall. Imagine this item on AD, it would be just as poorly designed. And this is coming from someone who does not like mages at all, hourglass is by far the most overtuned item in the game imo simply by it’s active cooldown, but even with that I think that rabadon’s is worse because hourglass is just one item and only affects one item, this item affects EVERY AP item.

  • I mean it’s the same kinda thing as inting really

People know that certain things won’t change if they flame and that they will be punished if they use it, so they go the route that is the most effective with the least risk of punishment. And it has been shown as the tried and true best method of achieving the goal of throwing the game with 0 punishment, so people will just do that.

Once players find a strategy that gets them what they want with as little punishment as possible, they’ll always use that. So if Velkoz and Syndra mains are sending death threats and it’s resulting in good balance changes, that sets a hugely negative precedent for the company. Same thing as to why everyone is flaming the fuck out of Riot for the ping and chat changes over the last year, because they’re not going after the main problem and letting this strategy just lie. Instead of Riot just ignoring these people and focus on what matters, Riot always just focuses on loud minority instead of looking at the main people who need to have the spotlight put on them. They always focus on the wrong group of people when it comes to their changes.

  • Release patch season 11 Darius with OG Stridebreaker, what an absolute terror that was

Here’s a champ whose entire weakness is that he’s immobile and melee. If you’re out of his range, he’s useless but if you get into a melee match against him, say goodbye. Now let’s give that champion an item that gives him a 300 range AOE damaging slowing gap closer on a 15 second CD that goes down with CDR and throw him on the rift and see what happens. Your E pull with that became an 835 range pulling ability into you, absolutely nobody could escape you. And alongside that, if you got hit by it now you can’t move either because you’re slowed so combine that with his W slow and you’re in for a bad time.

By far one of the most insanely stupid ideas that I’ve ever seen this company make in regards to itemization, thank god they’re getting rid of galeforce next season too because as an Aphelios player, it’s the exact same problem. The immobile weapon platform ADC now has an executing gap closer, because that makes sense.

  • Champs with actual interaction is what I like. Even if it’s a counterpick, I’ll take a champ I can actually DO something against over like a Quinn top type thing.

I play Darius so whenever I get a melee matchup, I’m already sort of happy because we’ll at least be doing something in lane. Once I see the Singed, Vayne, Quinn, Akshan, Gnar, etc locked in I audibly groan and just think about dodging more than playing.

  • Devil May Cry

Most people do not care at all how you enjoy the game, what you find most fun in the game, what your opinions on what game is the best, etc. The only time they get any sort of toxic is when people start talking about the reboot which to be fair, the developers of that game started that by being toxic towards the community.

But other than that, they just want people to like and experience the games. Looking for combo tips? Just look up any guide on youtube and you’ll see very in depth well made guides and all the comments are in support of it. And if you look up any combo mads of the series, it’s always people in the comments being supportive as well.

  • The main thing about Vayne W that I hate is that there is no scaling required on it from her end, meaning that she can just build LT and full attack speed and proc it a bunch of times in a fight and deal an absurd amount of damage without building any damage.

On hit overall is fine as a concept because it’s relatively low to make up for the fact that you’re building a lot of attack speed, with the assumption that you’re going to proc it a lot. However, when it’s an uncounterable form of damage that you cannot avoid because it’s all PAC, that’s where it feels completely aids to fight against. For the Vayne it feels great, but both sides are important. This is why Akali is a super fun champ to play and a super aids champ to fight, because they forgot about how it feels to fight against it.

Alongside that, I absolutely despise that the main counter to ranged top champs like Vayne and Quinn is to have your jungler gank. Making the only way for you to stand a chance in lane against most ranged tops is to not actually play the game but wait for your teammate to hopefully do something so that you can play the game. Other than that, you’re just farming minions for 15 minutes with no real other interaction possible. The reason for this is because their self peel moves are PAC and easy as hell to use.

  • While these people’s actions are absolutely unacceptable and they should be reprimanded for them, I can’t help but feel like Phreak brought this on himself to a degree with his own attitude towards the playerbase.

Everytime he makes a change, he sticks to it like superglue. He never changes his opinion, never gives people the benefit of the doubt if they disagree, and never treats those with differing opinions as equals, he always treats them as lower than him. The karthus ult meme is exactly that, “you can type karthus ult, it’s not hard, just type it” like making fun of people for calling out an overall negative change for the game by being a smartass is not going to bode well for you in the long run. If he said “I can understand your frustrations with the ping systems, and we’ll keep an eye on how the overall perception of them changes as time goes on to make better changes to it. And if people say it’s bad, we’ll revert it.” and left it at that, he would’ve not gotten NEARLY the same amount of backlash. Because that stands his ground on his decision, acknowledges that doubters have a valid stance, and gives them the benefit of the doubt that they may be right.

Does this excuse any of these basement dwelling keyboard warriors saying the most hurtful things they can imagine to him? Not in the slightest, they are a huge problem and deserve to be reprimanded and brought to justice. However, Phreak can’t play the 100% innocent card here because his own behavior is a contributing factor to this happening.

  • It’s the softies of the internet, give em an inch and they’ll take a mile.

We can all agree that spewing racial slurs is over the top, saying Ez in chat is not even close. These are the exact types of people that we all used to make fun of back in the day, because we were all these people but we were forced to grow up with game chat and party chat and stuff like that. The old classic MW2 days humbled a great deal of us that we can rip each other to shreds and then shake each others hands and call each other friends.

These people have never had anything poke their bubble wrap so any sort of offense frightens them and these companies give in to them so those people never grow up and always have paper thin skin. Trash talk and banter have been a main staple of online competitive gaming, competition in general really. If you can’t take any sort of trash talk, that’s on you. Obviously there’s limits to it, like I stated with racial slurs being one of them.

  • Because there’s 0 interaction with the champion, especially if he proxies

You take a lane and completely remove any agency from the opposing laner by just existing. They can’t chase you, they can’t force a fight on you, and you refuse to interact or do anything other than proxy waves and be an annoyance. At least with champs like Nasus they have to be in the lane to farm and stack up so there’s a chance they mess up the wave and I get a freeze or they overextend and I get a trade or something. With Singed, the entire game plan becomes “sit under tower and farm waves, wait for your jungler to hopefully path up towards you to kill Singed”

And if the Singed player has a connected brain stem, they’ll just suicide into tower and execute and waste everyone’s time, so nobody even gets gold or xp from you dying. It’s one of the most outdated, gimmicky, unfun, and uninteractive designs in the game and the only reason he’s still in the game the way he is is because he’s an older 2009 champion and they don’t want to get rid of it.

They need to make him an actual laner, give him mana for damaging champs with poison, make him not nearly as mobile in the early game, make his flip throw you like Urgot E meaning they land right next to you and not 20 feet away from you, etc. Force him to actually sit in the lane and interact and most people won’t hate him.
