I’m in plat 1 right now and just played a game where one of my DPS was raging at me for playing Sigma into a pharamercy echo comp. I’m confused as to who else I’m supposed to play? My thought process was Sigma’s orbs are medium ranged, don’t have to be direct hits to deal damage, and the absorb/rock can counter Pharah’s ult. I had really good stats but still got yelled at. He also didn’t say what other tank to play so I’m just confused. Is there a better tank to play against flyers?

I’m a Rein dood. You can shield yourself and teammates from the boosted missiles pretty easy. You can let one through on occasion to conserve shield and allow some healing / shield regeneration. Fire strike easy to land on either of them, or their teammates. Hitting a double strike easy kills. Also Pharas float to the ground is very predictable. Peek the off-angle and the pin is almost guaranteed. Sometimes I get the mercy by mistake and that’s even better. Hope that helps
Requires teamwork but go Winston - drop ur shield down onto your hitscan while you get up in their face your job is to distract and damage them enough so your hitscan can finish them off as long as your shield is over your hitscan the pharah can shoot at them

No other tank is as effective but he’s really easy to counter and people don’t like that you might be a liability but, what do I know I’m pretty bad at the game anyway
Play rein, ignore them, dominate the rest of the team. Superiority asserted.
You can’t play anyone into them. Dva is good for fighting Pharah or Echo alone but with Mercy they’re gonna be recieving 55 healing per second so she just can’t kill them. You have to pray you’ve got a competent hitscan on your team or you just lose because Pharah two taps all your dps and supports.
Personally, I would go Zarya and maximize charge easily against their DPS and just burn their world down.
Best thing you can do as a tank is go kill the other support.
If you really want, just ignore and avoid everyone else at the beginning of the fight and just get your team to focus pharamercy. Once they’re done you’re free to do whatever you’d like without your team dying. As a tank though it shouldn’t be your priority. All you should do as tank is play in such a way that you don’t demand too much from your team that they struggle to defend themselves from the pharamercy. Play defensively as Sigma too if you can, or play D.VA into her. Those two are usually good against her.
Tbh, Ramattra was designed to be a counter to pharah mercy but since the vortex that’s supposed to catch them actually can’t idk
DVa definitely. You don’t have to kill the pharmacy necessary but you can neglect its damage with the matrix.
Best thing to do against a pharmercy is just to bully the other support. If the other support can’t take over all the healing, then Mercy can’t pocket Pharah
At the moment. No tank can play into a pharmercy. Sig is a good defense option and can definitely apply pressure to the Pharmercy, but in no way actually do anything beneficial. Dva is another good option. But If the mercy never leave pharah’s side. Then your best option would be five the backline, kill the other support, the mercy will do one of three things: 1: leave the pharah to go rez the other support (NOWS YOUR CHANCE TO KILL EITHER OF THEM) 2: leave the pharah to focus on healing the rest of the team (NOWS YOUR CHANCE TO KILL EITHER OF THEM.) 3: stick to the pharah like an annoying mosquito. (NOWS YOUR CHANCE TO KILL THE REST OF THEIR TEAM, THEY DONT HAVE HEALING) But that’s all you could really do as tank. Hope the enemy supports suck donkey leg so you can kill them.

Welcome to being a tank main brother, the least self reliant role in Overwatch. Basically you can’t do shit against phara. On some maps MAYBE you could focus her as sigma or Zarya, but really you’re completely reliant on your team being able to do something, and if they can’t then sucks to be you bozo.
